The best thing about Edmonton is that the Airport is actually in another town and that all the good places to shop and go are at the outskirts so you don't ever have to really enter it.

P.S Alberta isn't entirely Shitty, Rolling fields and valley's, Calgary is actually pretty nice and we have the nicest part of the Canadian Rocky's

i worked in calgary for about 6 months a few years ago.....waaay better than edmonton

I wouldn't mind doing the snowbird thing, but I'd definitely do Jersey from May-October and then down here November-April.

I'm pretty sure I won't ever be able to financially do it, unless I stayed with friends/family up home and came back here in the cooler season.

I will say, I'm quite over North Jersey. I've been over it for quite some time. The only thing I really miss about it is the food and going to Devils games.

I do miss hanging out in Manasquan and LBI and a few other shore locales.

It doesn't get a ton of snow up there? I was thinking somewhere even without a mountain but maybe the hills. Need a lake though.
There is lots of snow but the various locals are used to it so it gets taken or blown somewhere pretty fast. if you want a more remote lakeside place you'd probably have to buy your own plow attachment or vehicle but that sort of sounds fun to me.🤷‍♂️

There are a lot of ranches and small towns among the hill lands that are close enough to the mountains its almost like looking at a painting. Also since snow has to come down from the mountains there are always a lake or river nearby.

It's weird, because for a team that hasn't been successful for a decade, nor big market, our forum is pretty active compared to some on here. Some teams much more successful at that.

I won't name what teams boards aren't so active (no need to start a fanbase wiener measuring match) and honestly, I haven't been to many lately to know, but we are by no means a dead forum. There's almost always lots of posts here.

A couple of fanbases have big boards elsewhere, some built in part from a past exodus from HFBoards. I know Calgary has one, IIRC Minnesota too. Probably some others too but those two were more prominent.

Bleed...Love those random factoids that come out from something else.

It seems Essex is quiet here. Will see if any other takers. But this GDT will move another 7 pages before puck drop... Lol
The only reason I go to as many games as I do is because of guys in Essex who invite me.

I have stories for days, but putting it out there that my only form of social media is this place is kinda weird given that message boards are antiquated.

The Devils are a special franchise. From the team's uniquely original name, its amazing logo and uniform colors, the team's success by reaching the cup finals five times in 17 years, the great players drafted, the recent lottery luck, the awesome arena which even has a nickname, having the privilege to have a hall of fame announcer like Doc Emerick calling games.. and the list goes on. There is no franchise like the Devils in the NHL. It's that mistique that draws fans in.

f*** that and your 'apology'

Bergen is slimy and full of animals, but I'll take them because I don't have a choice.

Essex is salt of the earth. Hard working hustling actual Americans.

Franklin Lakes can eat my ass, I'd literally rather live in downtown Newark.
Oof, I didn't think I'd ruffle so many feathers. Didn't realize we had county pride.

This basically, maybe reread what you wrote before complaining about how people respond to your posts rather than defending it.

If someone wrote “a lot of NJ is gross but…” how would that go? Would that make sense to anyone?

I’m not sure how explanations make this better.

I’m not even mad but I also that was a real goofy way to defend NJ.

The county isn’t dominated by East Rutherfor-style chemical wastelands. Also shitting on Newark isn’t good look either IMO.
reread what *I* wrote?

I assume you're directing this toward Billdo and not me.

My center ice channels are not working again.

I'm not doing center ice next year.

This year I get to pay for BOTH center ice and ESPN+. I was gonna drop ESPN+ until the next Devils game in several months but there's too many nights that I don't get center ice channels or certain channels won't load.

And tonight NONE of them are loading. It's bullshit. It's been going on since a few days after the season started.

The team was good in the early days of the boards, so that a little many community popped up isn’t a surprise. There are quite a few us that have been on here for nearly 15 years (we are all old).

All that oiler fanbase arrogance from a franchise that has done practically nothing since the 1980s. The same franchise that drafted high 1st round busts like RNH, Yakupov, Puljujarvi, Broberg and Holloway. While the Devils are in the brink of entering a second dynasty era for their franchise which is unprecedented in modern day cap-controlled NHL.
The greatness of that Oilers team in the 1980's should give any Oilers fan the right to arrogance for another few decades. If that Oilers dynasty was located in a major American city, they might have won 8-10 Stanley Cups. Not only would they be the greatest hockey team of all time, but in all of sports.

The 1983-84 Oilers averaged 5.5 goals a game. Meaning if they only scored three in one game, they would have to score 7 or 8 the next to keep up.

Are you sure you want Franklin Lakes to eat your ass?

You're not gonna have much ass left. :amazed:

I don’t know about that. That team was basically relocated to a major market and they only won once.
