Any deal would need to be close to dollar for dollar, NJ has about a million bucks to spare.
Unless a team retains of course.

Sharongovich. He’s not having a great year but he can shoot with the best of them. Not sure what the ask would be. Looked like a perennial 30 goal guy last year. Got injured in the last preseason game and just hasn’t been the same this year.

Or you can have Kuzmenko for a 4th and hope he rediscovers his game.
Shara not worth the contract risk. I didn't even want him at current contract if he was matching last-year's production because he's just not that good defensively and Devils will have to give some mega deals to Luke and Nemec very soon.

One-year playoff rentals are the only thing that make sense for this team, just as a "go for the Cup" type deal.

okay I will play along

if he is so great, why does Bern (and other Rangers fans from what I've seen) want to dump him so badly?

Panarin is not the direction NJ should go, and it would never happen anyways. Not even really worth discussing anymore.
age aside cause he is just over 30, not mid 30, and have no prob otherwise w/a short term 2-3 yr deal [not 7-8]. I want to move on bc he gets a hair over 11.6 and esp now since we committed to Shesty at 11.5 max term, we can't afford this guy for either $$ or term he will ask, and get based on performance.

That means either self rental, or deal to get value back. The earlier the deal, the larger the return.

no huge mystery here

It hasn't happened because a 33 year old player of Panarin's level has rarely, if ever, been traded. Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean that the actual value is lower.

Maybe not both Silayev and Nemec, but at the very least one of them would have to be included to get a player of Panarin's calibre back. Panarin is a top 5 player in the NHL since 2021. He scored 96, 92, and 120 points all past the age of 30. You are dramatically underselling the level of player he is.
Top 5 is pushing it. Makar, McD, mackinnon, Hughes, kuch, drai, fox, who are you replacing?

I’d also take tkachuk, Barkov and Werenski over him. Probably also Matthews.

Devils ain't getting anything until the deadline barring injury. And then it's the greed/go-for-the-cup type deal. Personally I'd rather keep the picks to supplement the forward core in 2-3 years when people start leaving for more money or aging.
They have three second round picks. They can use one of those for a middle six winger.

And if you want the Hughes Brothers we’ll throw in copies of Menace II Society and Dead Presidents.

1 bust, 1 disappointment, 2 blue chip defensemen, 1 star defenseman, 1 superstar of superstars, 1 200-foot player and leader, and 1 player who shall not be named. I guess it wasn't enough.

Likely we won't be in the lottery for some time, so we need to hit the trade market. Any ideas?
i suggest to pick one up in the 6th round. actually gritsyuk could be a good depth scoring option. what the devils really need is a more depth down the midlle. namely a 3c which doesn't look out of place when hughes or hischier is not available.

artemi panarin scored 120 pts last year. he is most definitely worth 2 prospects lol, one of which (nemec) hasnt lived up to his draft position so far
39 pts in 73 gms in both NHL and AHL
Played 60 games as a 19 yr old. He's only playing in Utica bc Kovasevic is killing it and they added 2 top defenders in FA. I'm good with his game, keep breadsticks, I'd prefer never to trade with the Rags every again, Lou Lams had the right idea.

Vatrano at 50% retained is all NJ can afford at the moment due to their cap situation. They also need a 4C upgrade.
Sturm or Kastelic. O'Connor in Pitt can play C as well

Keep panarin at that cost. Worth it or not. Im not helping nyrs get outta their bad D funk. Fitz won't either. Get Palms with one of our 2nds and a small add & let's stop talking about any trade with the other ny team

Ok I will play along. When is the last time you saw a 33 year old forward, ANY 33 year old forward, bring back the type of value which includes two recent top 10 DMen prospects (plus more)?

You just don't have any idea of trade value in the NHL. It is evident over and over again.
When your one goal is to make the Rags great, that is how you go through life
