Frank Vatrano is probably the best goal scorer target for the Devils at the trade deadline. He shouldn't cost too much, a 2nd and a 3rd or something like that, as it was with Toffoli last year.

Palmieri might be another option for the Devils. Or maybe even Rickard Rakell who has still term left.

We are 17th in 5 on 5 gf/60, but 4th in xgf/60. We're also 7th in hdcf/60 5 on 5.

Who are you giving us, and for what is the cost?
Panarin, 5+ of his 11.6+ retained, cap hit = 6 per x 2
Berard, elc, electric speed, great shot, but small

for
rights to Silayev
Nemec
acceptable draft pick
acceptable cap dump from you ok

Vats is a great get and solid on paper, but supposedly he is happy there and they w/him.
That will add to cost of acquisition.
Also ANA has done fab rebuild job but few sniper-scorers, so if Vats goes, has to be enuf profit going forward to justify step backwards

I would love Palms back. I doubt Lou would be willing to send him over for a bargain. Lou is probably still salty over how he was kicked our of our front office.

Vatrano would also be a great get. I would also kick the tires of a Toffoli reunion.

Try to fleece Adams while he at helm.

Alex Tuch or Tage would be exactly what we need.

marchessault. scored 40 last year, big game player, affordable, has term, and very likely available.

I like this as well.

Call your former GM and make him an offer he can’t refuse for some of the old guys who have expiring contracts. Just none of those 8th round picks and overhyped C tier prospects in return.

dude enough of this already. the Devils

A) Don't want
B) cannot afford cap wise

Panarin. and C) he is not worth anywhere CLOSE to what you proposed lol please stop.

dude
get that YOU vote no here which is fine

bread fulfills OP ask for scorer
is affordable at full retention w/acceptable cap dump

you may not want to pay my price and that is fair topic open to debate, not dismissal

Devils seem to have some long term D depth and could move a vet for some offense.
Would never happen but would be fun to see something around Hamilton to Vancouver for JT Miller, and then use Mercer+ to grab a Dman with shorter term like Rasmus Anderson.

Ok I will play along. When is the last time you saw a 33 year old forward, ANY 33 year old forward, bring back the type of value which includes two recent top 10 DMen prospects (plus more)?

You just don't have any idea of trade value in the NHL. It is evident over and over again.

8 lottery picks in 10 years wasn't enough to find one?
1 bust, 1 disappointment, 2 blue chip defensemen, 1 star defenseman, 1 superstar of superstars, 1 200-foot player and leader, and 1 player who shall not be named. I guess it wasn't enough.

Likely we won't be in the lottery for some time, so we need to hit the trade market. Any ideas?

Sharongovich. He’s not having a great year but he can shoot with the best of them. Not sure what the ask would be. Looked like a perennial 30 goal guy last year. Got injured in the last preseason game and just hasn’t been the same this year.

Or you can have Kuzmenko for a 4th and hope he rediscovers his game.

Polite answer to yr fair ?....

Recent history is replete w/all manor of Fs sold as rentals. Usually only 1 yr, maybe rarely 2.
These guys like Copp, Tara, Kane, Zuc etc all brought draft picks. Often including a mid or later 1st. And again, in some cases more than just a 1st.

Now, add to that that bread is a signif order above these guys.
Add further that I gave almost 50% retention
Add further I am open to reasonable cap dump going back to NY
Add still further I added a guy who is a nice prospect, Berard; the only ? he has is if w/his 5'9" size is he gonna turn into Marty St. Louis and last, or will he eventually get crushed out. But eventually is not now. He IS a useful piece for now.

The above is worth much more than those rentals got.
The above commands primo, not lesser, first round level assets.

Nemec was 2OA, Silayev was 10OA. Fits that narrative

So I am upheld as to trade value.

If you prefer to go less win now and hold yr D, even tho one is at the A right now and the other isn't even signed, that's fine.
You have a right to yr opinion on currency incl holding prospects v win now.

Howev, the OP has an = right to ask his ? and have it answered

Why would he be salty? He gave you a first for Palmieri and Zajac, clearly there are no hard feelings. Would be nice if you returned the first this time around though. 😉
