they just need to keep their ****ing heads above water until they figure it out. cause eventually they will start playing the way they used to. they just need to stay in playoff position till then

It's sad. I thought this was one of their better games in this last stretch. Actually could have easily won this one if some post shots went in and Moose saved what he should have. A step in the right direction I suppose. Just wish the progress was faster.

Hi guys, I hope this cheers you up:

We haven't lost 5 in a row since December 2011

December 2010. Right through the Maclean/Lemaire coaching change. Though I'm pretty sure those 5 were all in regulation.

While we're being pessimistic this is where I'm at right now. With how horrible our PP has been it makes me want Oates back. I hated Oates, and complained about him all last season. If our PP sucks then I want Oates behind it, and not Mike Shaw. Oates is a legend at least, and as long as we aren't giving up shorties.

Shaw gets a D so far this season. Didn't someone say at 5 on 4 we're something like 10 percent? When we're on a 5 game losing streak, and we have score ZERO power play goals then it's time to look at that.

It's still right around top 20. That's why I give him a D. It's masked by the fact we've scored a lot of 5 on 3 goals.

I'm kinda wanting Oates back if it doesn't work out in Washington. At least he's a legend as much as his PP stunk. We haven't had a PP coach worth a damn in years. Tremblay was the last good one. You can say it's the players, but a lot of the personnel is different from 5 years ago. Maclean's stunk, Tremblay's was good, Oates's stunk, Shaw's stinks pretty bad for a top 2 PP he ran last couple years in San Jose.

Dare I even contemplate bringing up Lou having a coach on the hot seat right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Shaw is told to hit the road after this season if it continues.

Can we please stop blaming every single coach for our power play struggles year after year? Maybe it's the players...

How many of the same players do we have from 10 years ago? Let's face it, the PP has sucked since Johnny Mac took it over in 02. Who do we have from then on it? Elias? The PP sucked 5 years ago when the only guys we had on it who we have now is Elias. Tremblay ran the best PP this team has had since Fetisov. It finished 11th that season, and only because our team collapsed in the second half of that season. I think it was top 5 for a better part of the first half of that season.

missed tonights game (prolly a good thing lol), but just out of curiousity how did the defense look tonight? another decent game from the 6 man unit or no?

If Kinkaid doesn't play tomorrow, I'm not gonna bother watching.

I'll be pretty pissed if he doesn't. I feel for Moose, but enough is enough already. He can't carry this kind of a load, and it shows.

Alright I'll level with you on the power play for a minute. This is one constant from the last couple seasons. It was beaten to death last year. Kovy on the point? Whenever I see Kovy on the point I think maybe it's best to move him up. That shot rarely gets through from the point, and when it does the goaltender is usually in perfect position to get it. We also don't screen very well which doesn't help.

It wasn't that bad. Moose was clearly at fault for the first goal it was piss poor. He pretty much scored on himself. The second goal was a bad turnover by Patty, but Moose was beaten very badly on it. The 3rd was a PP goal that beat Moose from close range through the legs I think. Fayne didn't look very good on that. Then the last goal was not Moose's fault. I forgot who caused that, but it was a 2 on 1.

It could be worse. On to the next one.

How many games have we been saying this for?

I will try to keep hoping for a turnaround until the trade deadline. If that comes and goes and NJ does nothing significant and the team still sucks, then it's time to pack it in and call it a lost cause.

Defense was great. Hedberg completely crapped the bed and the team basically gave up at 2-2. I would have done the same thing. When you completely dominate a game and your goaltender can't stop a puck, it's hard to keep putting forth a useless effort.

Well, Elias screwed the pooch on the 2nd goal.

i watched the highlights and yeah first three goals were ugly from hedbergs standpoint. if you're pete, i think you gotta go kinkaid tomorrow just to see what he can do if for no other reason.

It was a bad play by Elias but if you can't stop that puck you shouldn't be in the net.

If Moose hadn't given up that first goal which was piss poor I wouldn't have really held him accountable at all for the second one. You would hope he can keep that one out after the first goal that he gave up.

When is the coaching staff going to realize that putting Kovy on the point is stupid?

As I've been saying for a year now, Zidlicky should be the point man on the umbrella. Kovy and Elias on the wings, Zajac and Clarkson down low. Makes no sense have Kovy constantly pass the puck. He should be the one getting fed.

Doesn't help that every single bad bounce has gone against us the last two weeks. 3 posts tonight, Reimer made at least 3 saves that he didn't even see, loose pucks are finding our opponents sticks, etc.

Yeah I've just about had it with that too. Watching him tonight on the point, and it hit me. His shot rarely gets through, and when it does the goaltender is usually in perfect position. You need a screen in front to get that through, and our team doesn't really know how.

Last year everyone wanted him off cause it was causing a lot of shorthanded goals. This year it's causing nothing really. No coach will do this though as he's been on the point his whole time here, and he was from what I remember in Atlanta. You would think Shaw would come in, and change it if he didn't like him there. Hopefully he'd have the freedom to make such a change if he thought it was necessary. Personally I see Kovy going back to the left wing before being moved off the point on the PP.
