Still don't think they played poorly tonight. They got some good looks, Vasi was good, nothing too egregious given up either. I've been plenty critical of their play this season, but tonight was a fine game overall imo.
No such thing as a fine game being shutout

This is semantics but no respectable coach would agree, I dont think

Burn the tape and rest

When they followed up that loss to the Lightning with a loss to the wings and islanders?
Then in the following week and half got shutout by the flames and sharks?
They played a great game against the Wings and a pretty good game against the Isles. Played a meh, tight defensive game against the Flames and a pretty good game against the Sharks from all accounts (didn't watch that one).

The last time this team has played a very bad complete game was the last game against TB. Some games haven't been perfect but I've liked their play overall since that game.

This was a low energy game from after the 10 minute mark. They got the result from the effort they put in.

Not much else to dissect. They started strong. Gave up the first goal late in 1st, had some looks nothing happened. Kinda bad 2nd goal screen.

Special teams failed on both units.

Get rest, come back home and be better again.

Winning 2 of 3 pretty good in my eyes.

Right.

Here's an example of another of our bad goaltending game.

Let's trade for Vasilevsliy

What are talking about?

We were going to win 0-0?

The only maybe bad goal was 3rd one which happened half way through the 3rd period.

You don’t have spend the rest of your life seeing everything through the lens of your version of “Goalie Debate”.

We have two real goalies now. They’re old as f***, so we still have to figure out what to do at the position long term, but we’re set this season.

How many actual 'Cup contenders' are there in the NHL and how are the Devils so far away from any of them? A lot of teams are good, not great. Hopefully we stay in the good pile and don't regress to bubble mediocrity.
There wont be any regression

However its a new coach on a team who's best players are nowhere near the middle of their careers. Cup winning is a ways away but theyre on the right path

Once Fitzgerald finds a permanent scoring winger for Jack with our abundance of assets and future cap space, and the young defenseman take off, we will be a force

They lost those games. the moral victory shit is out the window this year. this isn’t a rebuilding team anymore.

Markstrom's a massive reason we won Tuesday and tonight he kept us in the game and they gave him no support.

It's fine if we don't agree. They aren't going to win every single game and for a team with a new coach and a crazy schedule to start, playing good hockey regardless of the result is important in my eyes.

If they play solid hockey overall, they'll win more games than they'll lose, and that's what we've seen from them in the last 2-3 weeks. I expect that to keep on getting better as the team gels even more, as the schedule gets a bit more normal, and as they get more practice time.
