Leafs will play better tonight .. McCabe in .. da guy has become ROCK of this team .. what it shows is we don't have enough solid D .. we need either Hankanpa back or we gotta get another solid D for playoffs ... in addition to a solid 3C .. might have to trade a winger or two for CAP reasons

He is probably right about all the points you brought up but he sure gives up the appearance that he simply doesn’t give a crap.
I would prefer players that give a crap.
Maybe this is one of the reasons they are 1-8 in the playoffs they simply don’t care as it really makes no difference to them if they win in the playoffs……they been paid.
I think there are two different things here.

Based on other things he has said, I think he gives a crap about winning, and specifically about winning here; I don't think he gives a crap about reporters asking panic questions about a three game losing streak.

He doesn't need to go on LTIR unless he's out for the remainder of the regular season.

Nah, that's not true... if he's out 10 games and 24 days minimum he can go on LTIR... that's not the end of the season.

It is true, that we couldn't use his cap for the balance of the season, unless he was on LTIR for the balance though.

Uh? I just meant that they don't need the cap space unless he's out for the season. If he's back before and they made a bunch of expensive additions, they will need to find cap space.

If they can’t find one, he might be the 2nd line center.
Now there is a horrible thought.
While he might be thought of as a hometown boy, 5 oŕ 6 other towns ŕefused to adopt him. Well, momma always things her boys are great. He is simply incapable of performing game after game, what ever the reason.

Jersey's last three games have gone to OT, so maybe this will be four in a row. I feel like there is an obvious outcome to this game. The Leafs will win to sweep the season series, and then these two teams will meet in the Eastern conference final, and everyone will bring up the Leafs' 3-0 record against New Jersey this season. Then what do you think happens in the playoff series?

Yup.

It's looking like...

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Pacioretty-Domi-Nylander
McMann-Holmberg-Robertson
Dewar-Kampf-Lorentz

Good opportunity for Domi to be tenacious and effective. Will miss JT's old man stick checks but Domi can win some pucks for Willy.

I’m almost certain that second line is going to be a minus tonight

2 defensively irresponsible players, one at Center is a recipe for disaster

Nylander isn't even getting points so he doesn’t provide any value to the team.

Third lines been neutered by the big 29, but I don’t know who else could be played there

First line has to be get their heads out of their asses and put on a masterclass. Ditto woll

Mike Futa talking to Bunkis yesterday claimed Leafs have spoken to D'Angelo.

Please no Luke Schenn or ROR. Two years older and slower.

If the Maple Leafs are beaten by the Devils in Sheldon Keefe’s return, they’ll do something that never happened during his tenure as coach in Toronto: Lose four games in a row in regulation. It hasn’t happened since Nov. 10-19, 2019, when the Leafs lost five in a row in regulation. After the fifth loss (and the sixth in a row overall), which came in Las Vegas, Mike Babcock was fired and Keefe was hired … The Devils have sputtered since Christmas, going 3-4-2 in nine games. Each of their past three have been decided beyond regulation, as they have lost and won in overtime and lost in a shootout … There was little difference between the teams’ penalty kill before games on Wednesday. The Devils were seventh in the NHL at 82.7% and the Leafs were eighth at 82.5% … New Jersey was third in the NHL on the power play at 27.9%, but in its past nine games, has only two power-play goals on 20 opportunities … In their previous two meetings this season, the Devils outshot the Leafs by a combined total of 62-39. Toronto won both games in Newark — 4-2 on Oct. 10 and 2-1 in overtime on Dec. 10.
