Falls off a cliff is same possible outcome...He is not worth Mercer....Trade them a prospect on defense not named Nemec Casey or Silayev

So you want orielly but don't wanna give up anything of value. You see what colorado just gave up for a ufa center? We'll orielly have 2 years left after this year so it's gonna cost if you want him.

In in the minority as a Devils fan. I have been wanting to hold onto Mercer. But I would offer Mercer one for one for O'Reilly. Similar contracts with Mercer much younger. I think O'Reilly is perfect for the Devils for what he brings. The problem with a deal like this is withiut Hughes, losing Mercers scoring would be hard, so the Devils would need to find a other forward.

Most fans don't want him...23 year old for ROR is not worth it if u watched him as a Preds fan then you should know that...A younger prospect at LHD and a pick ok and that is value ....Nelson is better than ROR at this stage of their careers and Avs are 1 cup in and in later part of their window so I can see them going all in....NJ is a young team not same situation....

Addition by subtraction and getting old and slow ....Mercer should only go for similar aged fwd swap not an aging veteran

The aging veteran has championship pedigree. Similar to a Rolston for Lemiuex trade in 2000, this is a trade and type of player the team needs. O'reilly is still an effective player. I highly disagree with you.

Then only downfall is the need for another forward as well after a deal like this.

I am not convinced Trotz will even want to trade him. Nashville is not entering a rebuild. It's a bad year. Big difference. They can bounce back next season as is. But if Trotz is going to move Oreilly, that needs to be a target for Fitz. For this and next season.

We skated around that whole team including ROR...Pedigree doesn't seem to be helping Predators much....ROR has been a very good player but he fits better with a team making a run for another cup not a team whose window has just opened not to mention dropping a fwd that we desperately need off the roster....A pick and a decent defense prospect I'm ok taking a gamble on him but not Mercer at 23. We have drafted heavy on defenseman deal from a strength not a weakness....Honestly they should go for a lesser name at center and make a push get in get experience and roll it back with a healthy line up....

St. Louis got way less for ROR than this from the Leafs a few years back. Feels like wishful thinking to get Nemec, Mercer, and a pick, but I could be wrong.

I highly doubt mercer would be involved in a trade it makes no sense for new jersey to do that. Fans are are wishful thinking. And to pry nemec away from new jersey you'll probably have to add a pick to orielly to make that happen as high as Vegas or Tampas first which as a pred fan I would do because of the lack of defensive prospects. I like Casey but I think his value is way lower than nemec. But that's just my opinion so if I was trotz I would have these offers

Orielly plus the lower of Vegas and tampas 1st rounder for nemec

Or

Orielly and 4th rounder for Casey and new jersey 26 1st

In no way do I think mercer should be included by new jersey. Trotz might ask but it shouldn't get that far with Fitz
 
I am fine with finding a way to get O'Reilly here without Mercer involved. But with O'Reilly being singed 2 years. some kind of salary has to go the other way or at least be traded.
 
Devils have been very quiet so far. A few of their moves show they might be looking / able to move one of both of Casey and Nemec and they have the cap space to add a significant amount . I wonder if they go hard after ROR or what their plan is . They NEED a C . Only one rumoured to be available that I’d want is RoR so hopefully Fitz can get it done . Please dear God , just not at the cost of Nemec please . RoR is a good add but not at the cost of Nemec

Not that I'd take any single source as gospel but seems like ROR doesn't want to leave and Trotz is still treating it as if he has an NMC. Which is really stupid, but par for the course for Trotz
