To me, last night was a perfect example of the problem we have when our big guns are shut down. That bottom level scoring just isn't there.

Yeah Cotter got one....but ..

Shots on goal:

Noesen 0
Haula 0
Lazar 0
Tatar 0
Mercer 0
Cotter 1
Bastian 2

That game was a glimmer of what we'll see in the playoffs. And our bottom 6 as is is not up to the task.

This was the exact kind of game where they have to pick it up and provide some relief to our big guns and for the most part they were a no show.
Tatar has definitely become dead weight. He needs to be gone.

really cotter should be in that spot and Tatar should be in the press box. we need someone to fill that third line LW spot.

would be great to add someone to move Cotter down a line.

If we weren't 0-4-0 with Allen since his last win and 9-0-1 when Allen doesn't play since that time period, I'd be more inclined to sympathize with Allen.

We've been winning a lot without him and winning none with him in the last month. And it's not like he's suffering hard luck Cory Schneider losses by scores of 1-0, 2-1 or 3-2 in the shootout.

Granted, the team hasn't played nearly as well in 2 or maybe even 3 of his games like they did in at least a handful of those Markstrom games, but in the game they did play really good (Columbus) he allowed 3 goals on 19 shots and I know 2 of them were bad. He really could have gotten the second star of the game for Columbus that night after Elvis.

We don't deserve to win games where we're outshot now... ok. Despite Carolina always shooting from everywhere and anywhere and despite the game being tied before a bogus major penalty call.

Refs manipulated the game end of story. Devils easily could have won if a phantom kneeing major isn't called there.

Carlolina Diver Down flag strikes again.

MLS does this to try to stop players from faking...

"If a player with a suspected injury remains on the ground for more than 15 seconds, the referee will stop play and wave the medical crew onto the field to evaluate the player. When safe, the player will be removed from the field and remain off the field for a minimum of two minutes for further assessment and treatment.

Exceptions to the Off-Field Treatment Rule include instances of potential head injury, goalkeeper injuries, serious medical events, and fouls resulting in yellow or red cards"
REALLY??

Then what in the F--K HAPPENED THERE???

WHY WAS HE ALLOWED BACK ON THE ICE TO CONTINUE PLAYING??

No suspension for the hit causing the fake injury

Referees are a goddamn joke.

We didn't play our best game. That's a fact. Carolina did play a very good game. Also a fact.

But it was a tie game with about 15 or so minutes left in regulation. Yeah maybe Carolina just continues to out play us and find the winning goal on their own. But maybe we find a push and score a greasy one to win in regulation. Or it goes to OT and either team wins.

We will never know because the refs put their thumbs on the scale with that bogus major and completely shifted the game.

Very strange that I can show you hard evidence of a significantly different environment...but you want to stick with the ulterior motive point of view. Don't know what to say to that :dunno:
First you are overstating the impact of the environment. Secondly it’s irrelevant given the fact that the goalie in question at the time was posting below average goaltending numbers. So on the past hand you gave credit for the wins to the below average goalie being bailed out by forwards - and blame for the losses went to the goalie posting above average stats but getting no goal support. While on the current hand you don’t give credit for the wins to the goalie posting above average stats - and no blame goes to the goaltender posting below average stats and losing.

I’m not blaming Allen for the loss yesterday, just pointing out rather obvious inconsistencies in your opinions.

Marty was a different era. It's just not the same... nobody is pitching under 2 goals against with 10 shutouts....it's a different league.

It's not rationalization, it's just fact ....those years there were 15 goalies with a .910 or better. That's not the world we live in today

Look at the league numbers yourself.

It’s kind of amazing that over a decade we went from the pinnacle of goalie SV%, part of a lengthy goalie golden age, to the current massive drop.

My favorite product of that goalie dominance is this blown prediction:

So what does this mean for the 2015-16 season (and beyond)? A few things.

1) Adjust your expectations accordingly

If recent NHL history has shown us anything it’s that not only are the days of players reaching the 100-point mark all but finished, even getting to 90 points is starting to look like an unreachable goal for all but one or two players in the league.
<cut>
3) So how many points is it going to take to win the Art Ross Trophy this season?
The folks at Bovada released their preseason over/under projections for the top scorers in the league this season and only one of them was set above 90 (Crosby).

It's probably a safe bet that for the second year in a row the NHL's leading scorer finishes below the century mark, and perhaps even in the 80s again. As mentioned above, only one player has topped 90 points over the past two seasons and the elite, generational scorers in the league right now (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin) are at a point in their careers where they have probably already hit their peak as offensive players (typically between the ages of 24 and 26), so they probably shouldn't be counted on for 100 or 110 point seasons anymore.

They were wrong about no 100 point players right away and then high end scorers came back en masse starting in 2017-18.

I loved how pissed Bryce was after that call and Necas not missing a shift.

All I can imagine is him cursing and giving his true feelings while holding the mute button.

He's never done anything like that before that I can recall. He's usually rather pretty mellow, it was interesting that he was so pissed to where even Dano was the calmer one who tried calming him down a bit lol

not seeing the demand, also he’s VERY well liked in the room. would rather just keep him on the team and let him hit the press box with MacD
MacDemrid is disappointing because he only exists to fight another super heavyweight in a retaliatory fashion. There are only a handful of teams he will play against.

Really doesn't make sense to have a player that can't play every game....or even half of them.

You also know that you are never going to dress him during a single playoff game. It's just a waste.

He can be sent to the minors without a cap penalty so they can replace him on the roster if they want. They like having him in mothballs for the few games he might come in handy and they want him around for any Rempe game it would seem. What I dont understand is why he is such a passive player outside of fights. Why not hit the opponents early and often? It’s not like they are going to do anything about it.

I still can’t get over how bad last night’s officiating was lmao
And how bad the narrative is. Even our excellent governor weighed in and got it wrong.

NECAS plays dead and a no call becomes a game misconduct - no discipline shows it was the wrong call.

ORLOV sucker punches Haula after getting a clean hit.

What the f?
