I think it’s all of the above. We were out possessed and outshot, they pressured the puck all night and we didn’t generate much.
The refs sucked, missing obvious calls against us and inflating an unfortunate hit from Timo to a major. Even so, we did nothing with our PPs anyway.
Allen made some excellent saves to keep us in it early, but you’d like a save on the Orlov goal, and the Aho goal was soft. Both can be true at the same time.
Pinning this loss on one thing is simplistic, in my opinion (not saying you are). A lot of things went wrong all at once. It happens.

Nope, you’re on the wrong thread. But that softy was egregious, and it was as poorly timed as you could have a softy. Killed the momentum. You can’t argue it, and your refusal to recognize that is a problem.
Thank you. I think this is a very fair assessment.
The Aho goal is not a hill I need to die on, and frankly don't care that much. But the comments spiraled a bit and I got caught up. So I ended up unnecessarily focusing on that.
I just have PTSD from the last Toronto game and this place completely blames the goalie, without acknowledging the lack of what our team did.
Maybe need another break from the boards again. I guess its a good thing when we freakout over some losses.

How were lines 3 and 4 and the HammyDilly pairing tonight? Basically, the only things that are not awesome? missed this game completely.

I always thought the canes were elite at cheating, but maybe it's just league bias. They are probably one of those teams that wouldn't survive if they were really bad. What's annoying is they are good enough to win without the league spoon feeding them favoritism.
That out of the way, we aren't going to win every game. I'd rather the losses come against good competition than pissing away points to the likes of San Jose, Anaheim, Columbus, etc.

Maybe an unpopular opinion here but the right one IMO. That Trouba hit on Meier in game 7 was clean. Timo was leaning forward and head down. Not much Trouba can do to avoid the head there, and its the playoffs, he wasn’t letting up. The onus was on Timo there. I was more pissed at Igor skating up to Timo to trash talk when he was out cold. Absolute POS

If that's the logic, then there's no penalty on what happened tonight. Devils got f***ed in both scenarios. And Trouba charged Timo, 1v4 and he goes for a flying elbow

Wasn’t the Avalanche shutout the end of a 3 game winner? Maybe not.
Not blaming him, as we got shutout, but that was another game he wasn’t good in. Though not as bad as the other 3 on this 0-4-0.
Zero flying elbow, elbow was 100% down. Trouba got his shoulder square on him. And I don’t think three strides is charging.
Unpopular here but a very clean hit as far as the rule book goes. Just very unfortunate with how Timo skated in

It’s going to be so satisfying when we eliminate this team in the playoffs. I just hope Fitz makes the right acquisition or two at the deadline to put this team over the top. There is a clear path to the cup finals if this team can add one or two more pieces

If the Devils make an add up front, they can beat anyone in the East. It's just tricky without the 2025 1st
I’d rather not see them in the playoffs, but realistically if we want to make a deep run we probably do need to go through them. Hope we can break through their infuriating style in a best of 7.
First time in a while they were really outplayed. So another reminder to the team at the level of play they need to bring against these teams when it matters most

Carolina doesn't have the absurd goalie advantage they did in 2023. If the Devils can get a good add up front, I rather them than Washington. The Capitals defense is way better than Carolina's and their forwards are better built for the playoffs
