Okay but if we lose I'm roasting the f*** out Tom Fitzgerald.

Actually no. Because I hope some chucklef*** from the team is reading this.

Because ladies and gentlemen, we are talking about Tom Fitzgerald! The man who somehow managed to land a GM job despite having the strategic mind of a broken pencil.

Remember, when you think of "elite hockey minds," you definitely think of a guy who’s made a career out of throwing darts at a board while blindfolded.

And when I think of leadership, I surely think of a guy whose career highlights are "getting hired", "still being employed'' and ''drafting Jack Hughes'', move so basic not even Mike Millbury could screw it up.

This dude’s the General Manager of the Devils, and somehow, the only thing he’s managed to build is a team full of promising players who’ve been cursed with the worst GM in the league. It's like putting a Ferrari engine in a Pinto. Yeah, it looks good at first, but good luck when it hits a speed bump.
you can criticize fitz, he's made a few boneheaded moves. but blaming him for this (honestly hilarious at this point) rash of injuries ain't it.

Fitz definitely has a stay of execution now...complain as much as you want about his offseason or the second half (I have, particularly the latter) but they never had anything close to a fair chance in this series. They did the bare minimum in the regular season to keep the hounds at bay then collectively fell down an open manhole cover.

It wasn't even him who drafted Hughes,

The last guy got fired for worse results (just barely) but walked into an organization with nothing but a 29 year old elite goalie, who had no hip about a year later, a highly underwhelming Adam Larsson and Adam Henrique. And I guess Damon Severson if you wanna list him.

It's not his fault that everybody is injured right now, but he can't just think that we'll be fine with healthy Jack and healthy everybody else back in September. How many more points would this team have finished with if Jack played all 82 games? 4 more points? That's probably a stretch.

Most of this same roster next year, only with some 4th line upgrades to replace the UFA guys, along with everybody else who are already bad being a whole older, another year older Markstrom and Daws being a clear downgrade to Allen (should he be the backup) and the team could finish with roughly a similar amount of points as they did last year, which only wound up being 10 points lower than this year. And also with any significant injuries again. The team was very healthy until about late January.

Fitz gets no blame for injuries on defense. But he needs to answer for the horrible forward depth on this team.

yeah, honestly our defense has actually been pretty good even with the rash of injuries - it's probably the strongest part of our game!

our bottom 6 is f***ing terrible and that has nothing to do with injuries. our goaltending (big game hunting!) has been good some games but cost us the game that we could have tied it. and our power play is a big fat 0 through 4 games.

fitz gets the blame for building a shitty, old roster with no depth and a practically empty cupboard of prospects that was once top 3 in the league.

I’m morbidly looking forward to the post elimination game injury report. Gonna be a doozy 🤪
Hamilton - doc insists pecs are swollen but Dougie says that's just how they are
Pesce - both hands and one foot stuck in pringles cans
Kovacevic - hangnail but don't laugh it's nasty
Luke - roommates duct taped him to a tree
Nemec - keeps biting cheek in same place
Cholowski - somehow 103% healthy
Casey - keeps putting Newark, DE into GPS

I agree that the defense has been fine. Slavins goal was a killer in game 4 and when we've got to win games 2-1 or whatever we need saves. Having said that this teams lack of ANY bottom 6 scoring is ultimately their downfall. It is inexcusable to be icing the bottom 6 we're using. Justin f***ing Dowling? Are you kidding me? Bastian is a net negative. Cotter just enters the zone, circles near the goal line and turns it over. Palat blows. Haula would be fine as a 4C but he sucks. Glass hasn't done anything. It's putrid.
