I'd rather pay him not to play here next year (his full cap hit) like Zubrus in 15-16 than pay him to play or be a healthy scratch/on the roster next year.

Palat has already greatly overachieved in goal scoring this year. He was literally on pace not long ago for his second highest goal scoring season in the league. He's probably not doing that next year.
