i mean, he's a 16-17 minute per night offensively gifted, but highly sheltered defenseman. He's got a lot of skills, but he's still got quite a ways to go defensively to become a legit top 4 defenseman. He's nice to take a shot on to grow into something more, but I'm also not going to stretch and overpay for something he may never be.
I get your first inclination is to dig into his value. Its hf nature to do this but that's his value 1st rnd pick +. There just are not that many players available that has the complete package like he does.

I'm not digging at his value. That's what he is. A few months ago, Blues fans were happy to take two seconds. Then they were more than happy with the Vancouver pick. Now it's Arizona's pick plus a third. I'm just out on that. The guy is basically the Blues version of Damon Severson right now without the minutes. Your board is littered with fans complaining about him. I'm willing to take him along with a cap dump at a slightly reduced cost, but that's where my interest ends.

What do you like on their menu?

Pittsburgh just made one trade I might've made (one of the firsts for Kapanen), but I'd look at Dermott and leverage the deal to get more from STL if Toronto was moving pieces to make room for Pietrangelo

1 blues fan was happy with that most blues fans do not want to trade him. My point is if he goes its for what his value is not because you or others want to diminish him to try and win some trade deal.

Then you should keep him. Doesn't much matter to me. He seems like a solid player with upside. Hope he reaches it.

Thats the general plan. Depending on the steen and tarasenko injuries. Blues have about 5- 12 million ltir. On top of that bozak and allen will not be that hard to move. Thats another 10 mil. Blues are good. Not as desperate as you want them to be lol

I haven't said anything about them being desperate. May want to double check that. You can try to create that narrative if you want, but given that there's no text to support it, you just look ridiculous. I simply wouldn't give up what you want for Dunn...has nothing to do with anything else. So get over it, or don't.

Thanks for the chat.

.. Thats fine you don't value him at that and that understandable. What I'm saying is he has that value and we will just keep him if his value isn't meet. No need to get hostile when people don't agree with you lol.

I would do it if nothing better came along. Four firsts would be pretty cool.

but I would prefer if we traded the Vancouver 1st round pick for Dunn, Bozak, and STL 3rd (Which was something a few STL fans agreed to on here recently)

I think with the uncertainty of next season, as well as essentially a flat cap for what seems to be the next 4-5 years, New Jersey would be smart to focus solely on the future. Move Palmieri and Gusev for even more picks/prospects, and load up the youth around Hischier, Hughes, Bratt, Blackwood, Smith, Zacha, Foote, 2020 7th overall, and any other young pieces you can acquire as your core. Sign solid veterans to 1-2 year deals to help bring along the core - such as Hainsey, Greene, Boyle, Richardson, Martin, Gibbons, Simmonds, Boroweicki, etc.
