And really, for as much as Shero gets blame for hanging onto Hynes too long, how long did Hynes really overstay his welcome here? A few months at the very longest? If Hynes wasn't fired after the 16-17 season, he wasn't getting fired after making the playoffs the next year in 17-18. He probably wasn't getting fired in 18-19 after unexpectedly making the playoffs the year before. But that was the absolute earliest he probably should have went, after surviving the brutal 16-17 season.
He probably should have been canned before October ended in 2019, but you can't really say he should have been realistically canned too much earlier than that.
Ruff and Recchi really have no business being here after April 28th or whatever the season finale is. The 29th?
The goaltending has been bad? Remember how bad Marty was in the MacLean year? He had no glove hand at all that season.
Hughes missed 40 games? Remember when Zach Parise played one more game after Halloween for the rest of that season?
And what was our record when Hughes played? All those points he scored and the record still sucked. The power play still wasn't that good when he was playing, though it was a bit better, but nothing great.
This staff HAS TO GO and I fully expect they WILL GO at no point later than the end of May? They may not be fired the day or two after the season ends, but I'm pretty sure they won't survive May.
Even if we go 7-0-0 starting tonight, we can't bring them back.
