Hynes was not the coach for that game. He had been fired a week ago. Nasreddine was coach, it was Taylor Hall's final game in a Devils uniform.
Thank you. As @Better Call Sal said its hard to remember pre Covid hockey. But yes, that helps get my recollection back. It was a brutal effort that I know.

I don't at all. I've hated VGK an entire year before their first game. Their fans are entitled, their players are pricks, their coach is Pete de Boer, and their owner is an egotist who makes George Steinbrenner looks like he had fiscal restraint. The correct thing to do after their first season was to keep the core intact and wait for their prospects to grow. Instead, their best draft picks are doing well on other teams. I'm getting major schadenfreude from their suffering.

Plus I hate their logo and name.

That was not at all the correct thing to do after the first season. James Neal signed the worst deal of the offseason. David Perron was definitely missed, though. William Karlsson had 43 goals in the first season in Vegas, he's had 66 in the 250+ games since. Waiting for prospects to grow as an expansion team is a terrible strategy because you have fewer prospects than other teams. Only Nick Suzuki is any good among the ones they've dealt - Peyton Krebs is racking up power play assists in Buffalo, not sure he's going to be much good for them.

They will probably miss the playoffs, but I wouldn't bet against them in 2023.

Fixed lineup for accuracy
Since his return from injury "NPC" has played 8 games at a .62 ppg pace (last year .5) going 1G-4A +4 while playing less than 15 minutes a game almost exclusively on the 3rd line and penalty kill. I like Kuokkanen.

I actually didn't realize this was Hall's last game as a Devil, but I remember he lingered around as a healthy scratch due to the impending trade for 2-3 games after his last game.

I also clearly remember this being the first game Rick Bowness was head coach for the Stars, as they fired Jim Montgomery that morning.

Just saw that Nolan Patrick has 11 points in his last 70 games played. Yeesh. Nico has 11 points since March 31st (9 games) and in his last 70 games has 61 points.

I know he's had health and injury problems but that's really f***ing brutal. Worse than McLeod (18 points in 70 games this year).

Obviously me bringing this up this means Patrick will have a three point game tonight, but whatever.

I don't think they will. LA's remaining schedule is just too weak.

I'd like for them to get in over Todd MacLOSER too, but it seems unlikely at this point, unless you think Anaheim (who they play twice) and Chicago can win some games over them.

You posted earlier about the moment you actually were were rooting for Vegas to win was the moment they had dumb disappointing losses. Same here.

I thought they were out of the playoff picture, the moment I got intrigued by them roaring back, they started tripping over their own dicks again.

It reminded me of last season when, after beating Colorado, I loudly proclaimed that their offense wasn’t going to dry up like it had previously in playoffs. And then it immediately dried up vs Montreal.

Well I'm glad you like Kuokkanen.

I could care less about him as he seems to be....just....there.

He might as well be an empty seat in the stands as he has done nothing to distinguish himself from what I've seen.

Maybe that's why he's "almost exclusively on the 3rd line". 🤔

Conflicted about this game. Before I changed my name to MVP Zacha it was VegasP11. I was born and raised in NJ but spent 18 years as an adult in LV. Nope, die hard NJD Fanatic. Let's go Devils!!!

Been a rough night for the stoppable goals percentage. Over half the 7 goals (as of this post) have been stoppable and I’m pretty sure Markstrom has the softy of the night already wrapped up.

But with Hammond(or Daws, cause he allows a lot of these too) Grubauer and Vejmelka’s games all yet to start, as well as 2 more periods for Samsonov, this is already pacing for a rough night.
