This is what I'm expecting. The other shoe has to drop. This news of a "open heart" discussion between Tallinder and DeBoer today just fuels the rumours even further.

Lou could have chosen to negotiate with Ponikarovsky. Parise didn't stop him.

Plus Lou did sign Bernier/Carter/Gionta/Harrold before UFA anyway. Poni wasn't going to make 'that' much more than them, it could have conceivably been done.

I don't blame Lou for prioritizing Poni below Zach/Marty/Sal/Moose but he could have been signed if both parties really wanted to make it happen.

I've only had a few OT winners like that (obviously, not like THAT) in my life and as a goalie, it's a pain in the ass to be a few seconds late to the celebration because you're on the other end of the ice. But I think he changed his mind watching this team grow together throughout the 2012 season. He was going to bail on SOMEONE he cared about, it was just a matter of which one.

I don't think it was a decision he made likely, and that he would have stayed had he not given Suter his word a year earlier. But whatever. Water under the bridge.
