I think we could make some adjustments to the powerplay for sure, but I also think we're falling victim to the reality that powerplays run in streaks.

This is why analytics nerds are obsessed with good 5v5 numbers.

6 goals against in the series

The 5 on 5 is the problem, like it’s always been.
Perimeter play, bad puck moving on the back end, not enough speed in the neutral zone, and bad forcheckers

This series again is highlighting why Mike Kelly is an issue here and I do not for the life of me understand how he escapes criticism constantly based on his responsibilities.

So far, the difference in the series is only one team has Jack Hughes.
This was my biggest fear. How ONE AMAZING PLAYER can singlehandedly beat another team FULL OF experienced really good players, is astonishing to me.
We're NOT defeated. There are potentially 3 games remaining. STOP him, and you stop the Devils.
NOT trying to be negative but, it's unfathomable to me HOW the Rangers didn't foam at the mouth in facing an unproven Smidt, and simply didn't blast away and crash the net. Fear of the Devils speed going the other way?
That's not good enough reason. He's not Patrick Roy, just put the effin puck on his pads (instead of wide open belly shots (yeah, Foxy I was shocked) and get the loose change. Unless you don't need it. (sarcasm)

Really thought we'd do this in a painless 5, but now they're going to make me beg and sweat a whole lot, aren't they?

I don't think any of them other than Trouba maybe, are embarrassed. Their "meh" attitude comes right from the top down. Chris "I won't let it ruin my weekend" Drury is such a drab milquetoast person. Gallant has no personal accountability. Panarin shows up when he feels like it. Mika is either in his own world or focused too much on his flow. Same rotten issues that plagued this team months ago still exist.

I really wish these players would read these boards to see the things their hard working fans are saying about them. Fans that spend their hard earned money and time watching the games as a form of entertainment to escape the everyday grind. Maybe they'd self evaluate feel some kind of embarrassment. And then actually show up to the rink and put an honest effort in.

Yes, Gallant should never have moved Mika off that spot. He's the only one who actually regularly looks to unload a shot on the PP and that is his most effective spot.
I vote this to be "Post of the year", more specifically this paragraph. I couldn't have said it any better with those heartfelt feelings. Great job!

I was talking about human players not primate players.
Or players from another planet, as suggested by last night's ESPN PBP guy.

And even if Draisaitl began his career as Chimpan-A and ends his career as Chimpan-Z, I'd still take him for my team.

Kakko really trying hard to take the puck off the wall to the front of the net, his hands get him halfway there but then the dman can recover and stop him due to his limited speed. Needs a better first step.

Also everyone trying to rip it top cheese, nobody bothering for any 5 hole. Best goal scorers in the league are great at leaning on their stick and putting the puck ahead of them, making it look like they're gonna lift the shit out of the puck but then sneaking it low and through the legs.

Devils fans are so giddy and happy thinking they have the series wrapped it.

Let’s invade Prudential and stick it right to them once again on the road. This series ain’t over, gents.

Hockey in general is streaky. Can't control that, but a team can control their effort and focus.

Thats because they do. Rangers playing with no pride, no will, no heart, no balls. Pathetic effort. Pathetic performance. Send them to the golf course.

looks like GG on ice...scare them a little

Means absolutely NOTHING. Thats about the same speed and heart and hustle they showed in game 4. PATHETIC
