Harrold minus 3. Since Carolina game he's played poorly.
Volch needs a lengthy benching.

Volch needs a lengthy BEATING is more like it. He also needs to be a reclamation project of the Blues like Wade Redden. And as fast as we can too. When we have this surplus of D I really have to question Pete if he uses him tomorrow. Harrold should be upstairs too if he wasn't a minor offensive threat or good for the PP. Larsson or Tally in tomorrow over Volchenkov please.

So what the guy blocks some shots, and scores goal off of guys ***** once in a while. Fourth highest paid player on the team this year. I can sing too. I don't think your ears wanna hear it often though.

Oy, I feel for ya

Only thing I'll say before I go to bed...we beat Florida and the Isles lose to Pittsburgh tomorrow, then we beat the Isles on Monday and this is all forgotten as we're seven points up on a playoff spot.

Of course that's presuming we actually beat teams we're supposed to, which is a major problem. And the Isles always show up against the Pens, too.

agree about the isles/pens
is their new prize playing tomorrow?

thats 2 points we just left sitting out there the past 2 games, cant let this continue

This game more so than last. Pete also got outcoached by Lars Ulrich in his NHL coaching debut. Lars Ulrich outcoached Pete in something that wasn't how to play the drums! Just flushed the other point down the commode.

It doesn't matter that we gave them the points, but this was a failure. We should have won this game. We had a sieve in net and scored 4 goals on him, got awarded a bogus penalty shot from TOM FRICKIN KOSTOPOLOUS in which he actually scored on. Had a 2 goal lead two different times. Volchenkov arguably was the main culprit in the first 3 goals. The third goal was a bad goal that Marty has to make a save on, but watch Suckchenkov on that shift.

Don't want volch to put on our jersey again. The guy gives it all but is incompetent.
Don't want to see Tallinder nor Sal back next season too.

Hope he is. Though remember the Pens also have a bad habit of not showing up for this POS franchise from Long Island just like we don't too many times over the years. I'm tired of all this Isles and the playoffs talks, and I don't know about all of you but I HATE the Fishcakes just like everyone else in the division. I hate this ''We respect the Isles cause we both hate the Rangers'' belief. Maybe we should respect the Pens since we both hate the Flyers too?

If we miss the playoffs, but the NYI make it I might have a hemorrhage.

Sal had a decent game tonight. Again I wish we could make his contract disappear (Not him but just that big cap hit) but no more bad defensive contracts from here on out. This game shows why Volchenkov isn't worth $4.2 million to block a few shots and throw a few hits, and score the occasional goal off an opposing defensemen's ass. Volchenkov needs to be shut down for the season. Frankly this isn't the first game he's been this bad. Tally or Larsson in for Volch tomorrow. If everyone is healthy he's arguably number 7 on the depth chart right now. I'd be more comfortable with Urbom at this point in over him.

As much as I wanna say this was a poor defensive effort it was mostly just a few repeat offenders. Suckchenkov and Harrold, our number 7 and 8 defensemen who were on the ice too many times with Stamkos for my liking. Tomorrow we have another huge animal in net too. Love to see how this goes over in person tomorrow.

I was 3-0 at the Forum watching the Devils play before this. I can write a novel on how much this game pissed me off, and from reading this thread and what others are saying I doubt what I'm saying will be called on overreaction by many. This is EXACTLY what I have been saying, and it happened. I said TB's defense don't scare me, but their offense does. We score 4 goals on this team with a lineup with no Kovy that isn't very good (Mostly because Garon let in 2-3 piss poor goals) blow two different 2 goal leads, Kostopolous scores on a penalty shot goal (Call was kinda weak let's be serious here) but Zajac, and Elias can't? Tom frickin Kostopolous beat Garon on a penalty shot, but Zajac and Elias can't get a god damn shot off?

Marty was great in the opening period, but that third goal was like Clemmensen bad. Looked exactly like Bernier's goal in game 6 last year that I ripped Clemmer for giving up. Also GTFO VOLCHENKOV! If Volchenkov is in the lineup tomorrow then I swear I will not be making the trip to Sunrise again next year unless Volch is bought out.

Hey you were at the game! So was I! Should have asked you to come over and say hello.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. Watching it live, it was one of the most frustrating games this season (if not the most, since they gave up a big lead and blew the game with 15 to go). Volcheknov and Harrold were ****ing terrible and need to go away for a while. I haven't been keeping up with team news (been sick), not sure why Larsson wasn't playing, but if he's healthy he absolutely better be in for one of Volch/Harrold tomorrow.

Marty made some huge saves, other than one goal (and the shootout), I think he was fine.

With the way Garon played (3 goals were stoppable), the Devils were basically gifted the win yet they couldn't take advantage. Honestly, with the recent play we've seen over the past week, I'm starting to think Lou needs to look for an upgrade on defense. They were pathetic in their own end tonight. (although Volchpylon and Harrold were the main culprits)

The Devils are an average team this year, its as simple as that. There are too many problems with this club to fix by the deadline. I said it before, I'll say it again, its going to take a few offseasons to replace what the organization lost when Parise left. I don't think people fully understand the magnitude of his departure.

Where were you? I was in 108 11 rows up! It's the end where Marty defended in the 1st and 3rd period! I think this team needs an upgrade in the offseason. Marty's a goner after next year if we miss the playoffs (Especially if we do it 2 years in a row, or 3 of his last 4 seasons) Even if he's healthy, and playing at a decent level still. Lou needs to make this team better next year. I'll cut him some slack for this year, but next year this won't cut it. Bring in a UFA forward. No more Bobby Butler geek and boob, save a few bucks, question mark signings. Has Nathan Horton been given an extension by Boston? Pete had him in Florida.

This 8 defensemen has been a failure, but if Volchenkov goes away for as long as possible it could help us. I know I wanted Tally to GTFO too, but he was pretty damn good last time he was inserted back into the lineup. Larsson or Tallinder in for Volchenkov tomorrow. Having to see Volchenkov tomorrow is not worth the long boring drive 4 hour drive through the Everglades to Sunrise. If they throw in that ungodly creature Markstrom, we're already gonna have a hard enough time scoring goals as it is. No Volchenkov at least lowers the probability of more goals against unless someone else gives out a pathetic performance like his (And Harrold's) tomorrow night.

Each loss prob has Lou thinking it'd not worth it to mortgage picks or prospects for this group.

I don't want to see a panic move but would be overjoyed to see volch and Tallinder off the books.

Ya know during the lockout (All off season really) I was eating a lot, got bored easier, and put on some weight. I lost almost all of it, and have been more healthier. I'm wondering if all of it though has been cancelled out after a game like tonight!

I was in 228. I have to give the Tampa fans credit, that team is most likely out of the playoff picture and yet the fans still came and cheered their team. You would think the Lightning were in 1st place based off the atmosphere at the arena, good for them.

Lou needs to make this team better next year.

Understatement of the century. The team needs upgrades everywhere

Yeah they were pretty cool, and always have been. I usually go with my buddies, but I took my girl this time. My buddies were over in the next section, and they're Lightning fans. The place is always sold out or close to it. I don't expect BB&T to be sold out tomorrow though. Tickets are even cheaper there, and parking comes with your ticket too there.
we need jagr
It would help. Lou needs to do something at the deadline. No point in keeping all these defensemen when half of them are either scratched anyway or just plain SUCK period. Not saying we need a rental, but if it's cheap then I'd do it. This team is not a lock for a playoff spot, so a rental unless cheap, isn't such a great idea.

Two more games against two more WEAK opponents (Isles have won 3 in a row against all non playoff teams) before the deadline. Let's try to get 4 points and then see what happens. Garon was horrible tonight so I don't expect another 3 or 4 goals with this crew. Especially with Mr Posturepedic Pads #2 likely in net tomorrow. Jacob Markstrom, the big buffalo of Sunrise.

I really hope Lou doesn't throw away any more picks to bolster this team. If he moves some D for forward help, whatever. I just don't want him stretching here and mortgaging the future to salvage something that likely wont be worth investing in. Realistically, this team is a 6 seed at best but will likely wind up playing either Pittsburgh or Boston in the first round, should they make it. Gotta pick your battles and I'm not sure how far you can expect them to go if they face an opening round like that.

Hopefully they can just stay healthy from here on out and hang in there until Zubrus and Kovalchuk get back. Just make it in and see what happens. That's the most I'm asking for at this point.

I can't blame him if he don't make a big upgrade this year cause it ain't worth a rental for a team that isn't even a lock for the playoffs. Next year he needs to do something. He had to know this team wasn't gonna get far with such thin scoring depth. Also the defense isn't that good. Half of them are either healthy scratches or do more damage than good. Volch is a number 7 defensemen making more money than all but two forwards on this team. Zid is not so great defensively but at least brings more offense than Dano and White, Harrold hasn't been good at all defensively, Tallinder doesn't bring much offense but he's been at least decent aside from that stretch of games a month ago. Fayne and Larsson are regular healthy scratches on a team they have no business being healthy scratches on.

Team needs a forward upgrade next year. There's nothing in the minors really. Matteau needs an AHL season, and Boucher might need a full AHL season as well. Whether we re sign our UFA's or not this team needs one more good winger. The way this team is built is isn't able to sustain forward injuries. It hasn't even taken the injury to Zubes well.

I guess we're not a playoff team because we lost a skills competition without our best player.

The team wasn't even bad tonight. Brodeur let in a softy and there was a last second goal to tie it on a great pass from Stamkos. We hit several posts and hung in an offensive battle with one of the best offenses in the league.

I don't think we were even that bad tonight all things considered, but I'm using the logic that any game where we get a point without Kovy is a positive. But I guess some people expect us to go undefeated.

If we won all of our shootouts, we'd be tied for 5th in the conference. The skills competition is the difference between 5th and 8th right now. We're not as bad as some of you guys are making us out to be. And by no means am I saying we're a great team, but the people who can't take a single positive out of any OT loss need a chill pill.

i think Sal has been fine lately, he definitely was forcing it earlier

Volch needs to go though, he cannot hack it anymore. love the guy for his effort and toughness but his lack of speed is more of a detriment than what he brings.

unfortunately, making the playoffs is a big if at this point. the east does suck, but if they can't beat teams like tampa, how the hell will they beat teams in playoff position? the leafs owned tampa a few days ago and the devils lose to them in the worst possible fashion.

Honestly not worried about the playoffs at this stage. Obviously if we sneak it at 8th and play the Pens I don't like our chances. I think we settle into the 7 spot and if Montreal stays at 2, I think we can play with them (predicated on health of course).

Volchenkov was Bantam A bad tonight. Salvador is slower than molasses. Loktionov is by far our best forward, I'd say.

I see what you are saying, but this game tonight really stings. We had two leads by 2 goals. We scored 4 goals which I don't expect us to do often with the lineup we have now. We finally didn't make a bad goalie look good, and this could have been 2 big points. It wasn't really a bad game defensively like I said. It was mostly repeat offenders namely Harrold and Volchenkov. Gio didn't have the best game either.

Now tomorrow onto Sunrise and Florida's most comfortable mattress, the Jacob Markstrom.
