If he can be brought back on a cheap deal, that trade becomes more defensible. Even as is he’s stabilized the left side to help us to make the playoffs.
I would honestly rather have him for two more years at $3 million per or the same as what he made this year (just over $3) than the remaining two years of Dillon at $4 million per.

I would love to offersheet Kakko just for the Rangers trolling

With his goal scoring prowess, Vilardi would be a terrific fit in NJ. He plays C and RW? Yes, please.

I would be over the moon happy if we signed Ehlers as a UFA. There’s going to be tons of competition for his services though.

Interesting to see if Glass is back in practice tomorrow. Sucks he got hurt, he’s a pretty good skater.

I don't look at Nichols' stuff but guys like Kakko and Vilardi are very unlikely to be available via offer sheet because their teams will take them to arbitration instead.

I also don't think offer sheets make a ton of sense in this cap environment.

Any interest in TJ Hughes for us!? Seems like the top College UFA and has a nice middle 6 potential!?

Could be a good bottom 6 piece potentially if we want to beef up?

Sure why not? We can never have enough Hughes brothers, so we can lure Quinn over when he goes UFA...

Oh, they're not related? Never mind then. :sarcasm:

Fitz has got to sign him:

I hate the value given this is a nothing year once Jack went down with how much our forward group is regressed. Acquiring him at that cost was a bit of a dumb move since it didn’t move the needle but just left us in that dreaded good but not good enough territory.

But I do have to say in terms of Fitzgerald targeting a team need and addressing it, it’s A+ work. I’m scared to think of where this team would be without Dumoulin as he’s been a really steady and reliable addition in the absence of Siegenthaler.

I agree with the bold but it goes against the idea that it didn't move the needle.

The debate would be should we have just let the season play out and potentially not made the playoffs? To which I say we've missed the playoffs too many times in recent years to miss yet again. And of course we don't have a 1st rounder to make tanking worth while.

But let's make the playoffs. Bratt,Nico, Timo, and Luke need a go of it.

I agree with the premise of this, but I just hate the value on that deal for a pure rental.

To play Devils advocate, I don’t believe a single other LHD moved at the deadline. Way too many teams thought they still had a chance, the actual rental market was thin, and teams were asking for ransoms for players.

Getting back to your point, I do think that’s the reason they made this deal. Without Dumo, this team probably limps into the playoffs with the other mediocre wild cards. They’re easy first round exits to whoever they play. At least now this team has a fighting chance against Carolina and after that anything could happen especially if Siegs and Hamilton return.

Man Palat's numbers the past 12 games are brutal. On ice the worst on the team. Just 2 assists, zero goals and maybe worst of all, 6 shots. in 150 minutes played.

Everyone knows he is here to bring it in the playoffs. You want him coming playoffs healthy. That's probably the only thing he is interested in to be honest; to deal with nagging small injuries before the playoffs, avoid new ones and come out ready.

The Canes part of the pie just keeps growing (for whatever reason), and that is a fantastic thing.

All of the pressure is on Canes, and the Devils do know how they play at their absolute best, since they absolutely trashed us in the 2023 playoffs and played the best defensive game I've seen in 30 years of watching multiple teams.

It’s insane. I get so much information from Reddit though, I just can’t quit it.
Oh I really do enjoy Reddit but it's hard to not notice how much politics is actually within almost every sub. The sub newjersey is basically just people complaining about the current president and people that support him, doxing restaurants, and complaining about how expensive everything is. Reddit's a good resource for stuff if you want to use it like that though.

This is where I'm going to disagree. He's not going to flip a switch and become some transcendent player in the playoffs. Hes finished. They seriously need to consider buying him out.
