I really hope with that recent tweet that Ryan McLeod might be available that the Devils target him over some of the veteran rentals.

He would be a dream fit on the third line. The type of center I could see meshing really well with some of our bottom six forwards too. Plus it’s both a short and long term solution.
Who tweeted that Ryan McLeod may be available? I imagine it’s a credible source…

Why do people say we should have sent Holtz to San Jose? As if Fitz didn’t try and Grier (who was with us for a while) didn’t want him, you need the other team to actually say yes

Yeah we weren't keeping Z in that trade. The best we could have probably done in hindsight is swap Muk for Holtz which at the time would have seen like a big overpayment.

I don't think that was possible or preferable for either side. Mukhamadullin is waiver-eligible after this season, he was blocked by Luke Hughes; it was always going to be challenging for him to make it in the organization once they drafted Luke. Meanwhile for San Jose, Zetterlund and Holtz play the same position - it's very unlikely that both guys are long-term pieces, so why trade for both? A similar thing is going on with Nemec and Casey where I think one of them should be gone by the summer. It's why drafting heavy on defense is not good - you can often switch a center to wing or move a wing to the other wing, but RHD never play the left side and these days LHD rarely play the right, plus there's generally only 2 power play spots for defensemen.

It’s not fair but I don’t know that New Jersey has an appetite to bring in McLeod for name / family reasons alone.
I was thinking the same thing. While it isn’t fair, it’s certainly possible.

However, we did sign Cal Foote (who stinks) so that somewhat assuages my concern.

Didn't they re-sign Nolan Foote after that stuff went down? If they were okay re-signing Nolan with Cal involved I'm not sure they'll hold Mikey against Ryan
Yes, but Foote was already property of the organization prior to that.

That doesn't mean they wouldn't bring Ryan here, but I wonder if Ryan would feel more awkward about being here than everyone else would.

It's possible he may feel a sense of shame and weirdness about being around all these guys who were around his brother before they found out what his brother really was.

How about Nemec to Seattle straight up for one of Beniers or Wright? Would be one of those deals which is pretty even talent-wise but both teams give from a position of depth to fortify a position of need. Just spitballing here...
Why would they do this?

Is Mason McTavish still in the doghouse?
Why would they do this?

Would LOVE any of those guys but I don't think I would make that deal if I was Seattle/Anaheim

Daws played great in the limited sample but Noway can he be given the full time backup gig next year off that alone. Ideal would be Allen coming back chances of either Markstrom Allen missing time next year is solid so daws gets another crack then the gig

Daws easily replaces Allen next year. No need to spend cap when Daws is on an ELC

Daws loses his waiver exemption.

Lol what a shitty position to be in, f*** Fitz to the highest degree but I don't know what I would do as GM of this team currently
He is screwed if Jack is hurt long term . Teams know he will be desperate . Good job waiting to the last minute Fitz ya putz. Prices just went up . Only “positive” might be Jack on LTIR frees up enough cap to add a significant piece like a McCann and Jack is back in time for the playoffs ( if they make it without him)

They won't make the playoffs with Jack out of the lineup. Also I'm not sure if I want bald head to burn more assets on a team that isn't deserving of it anyway with or without Jack

I think he will be 100% active solely due to his job on the line. I don’t see ownership being ok with no playoffs
