Let's analyze from a top view rather than rating traded away players and debating their value.

You asked which players he could have acquired in a 2 for 2 trade? This would be a question for the GM since only he can privately network other GMs to create opportunities and make it happen.

As for the attached chart, Fitzgerald's track record speaks for itself with 1 playoff round won in almost a decade.

Fitz has not been the GM for 10 years. What are you talking about?

Pretty sure no one ever said "he wasn't any good."

I know I myself have said he wasn't a good fit for the team. Good at one thing and useless when moved around the line while things weren't working. I always dislike "top 6 or useless guys," especially when you aren't consistently playing at a top 6 level. That's why I disliked the trade and thought it was a bad move.

Toffoli was/is better than Sharangovich. But Sharangovich was a better team fit at the time and long term.

To me this sounds like possibly waiting on Jake Evans and Montreal to determine if they are giving up on the playoff hunt

Though I have my reservations about a guy whos scored almost as little as Haula since the New Year

I think moving Nemec now, when his value is relatively low, would be a mistake. Trading him for anybody who is currently rumored to be available doesn’t make sense to me.

In the summer, when we have a better understanding of where we stand with Hamilton, Kovacevic, and Casey, then it might be the right move.

I’m way closer to 50 (that’s scary when saying it!) than 40 at this point. I guess I’ve long outlived my life expectancy.

In the summer, when we have a better understanding of where we stand with Hamilton, Kovacevic, and Casey, then it might be the right move.

It might make more sense in the offseason when there's more available options but his value being relatively low is not a good reason for not trading him. Players value can always get lower, we saw it with Holtz when he went from 7th overall pick to now with Vegas where he might bring back a late round pick at best.

He was slow. You can't have flashy goals with slow guys. Flash trumps all.

The first thought that comes to mind is Ken Holland. I know he’s old, but he’s the one that this would describe. Unless Pittsburgh cuts Dumbas loose after only 2 years.

I definitely do not want either of those guys, as much as Fitz isn’t currently in my good graces.

I was personally hard on Toffoli, but never said he was a bad player. Just never felt like it was a right fit here
