It's a week away from the trade deadline, these people will make up anything.

That said, Marchand would be the guy to go beside Jack and Bratt. I wouldn't want it, but that's another player that could play in that spot and there aren't a ton.

The impacts can only be good for so long without results. Need more from Timo as someone who has consistently defended him all season. His linemates don’t help and lack of PP1 doesn’t help but you gotta earn your way up dude

They have at least 3 players in who should not be starting playoff games. I don’t know you can remake that in a deadline while pushing others down the lineup.

Just want to clarify.

Bratt Palat Tatar Mercer Wood Bastian Haula Zetterlund. WOW

Bratt Palat Meier Mercer Noesen Cotter Tatar Bastian. BAD

I guess we really missed Miles Wood. (reality, you're upset we're playing more defensively oriented)
I am less doom and gloom about the wingers compared to others but I think part of the concern is

- counting stats Meier and Zetterlund are close / Meier has a bad ratio of points/$$ (that said I am a huge Meier fan)
- Tatar and Mercer were both amazing in that season, Mercer looked like a bona fide top 6 with 1st liner potential and Tatar was doing yeoman’s work
- the bottom 6 generally is producing too little offense today which could be related to wingers, or centers, or deployment, or strategy

I dont think MacTavish's value is all that high right now either. 22 years old. Has never scored 20 goals. Has 14 this season.

I think they'd have to add in a Mac/Nemec deal.
He had 19 goals and 42 points in 64 games last year. He we obviously on pace to surpass 20 goals.

Nemec has been one of the worst Dmen in the league this year. It isn't representative of his value but his value is likely diminished.

I don't see why the Ducks would be adding here.

With timo meier on the ice, NJD gives up 1.27 goals/60 5v5.

That mark is FIRST in the league among forwards.

Mods, feels like an attack against me! I can't reveal my sources of course but trust me, the Devils keep plugging away at a McDavid deal!

Word on the street is the hangup being the Devils also want Draisaitl, but won't part with Haula in return. We'll see how things pan out 👀

Most disheartening thing is the team did not “reset” over the break whatsoever. Hard to justify being buyers this deadline just to maybe win a round in the playoffs. We shouldn’t be expelling any assets unless somebody is coming back with term at a good caphit.

so you expect every player to score at their career ppg every game or two?

most players go through streaks of hot and cold. I'm not sure how this is some sort of revelation.

The notion that Timo has not been producing his entire time in NJ is not true. That is the post that started this entire thing, which is what I responded to.

I expect an $8.8m winger to produce at something close to a PPG. His "best" streak with NJ has been a PPG and he did that for 30 games.

I would 100% do that deal

He will never be PPG, especially not with PP2 time. Need to temper expectations but even when normalizing for that, I think Timo will end up being overpaid relative to his contract - he just hasn't been as impactful as we expected. Still a good player but not probably not worthy of his cap hit.

Puckpedia only has them slated to have 1.7 at the deadline, so I wouldn't expect them to be heavy buyers anyway
