No, I just want this team to win, which means keeping our best players and playing them in high leverage situations.
I don't understand why you hate him so much. Because he took your golden boy's roster spot?
They have at times. Quinn and Casey are more skilled than most PP1 forwards.
Quinn is more skilled for sure. Casey over a netfront guy like Noesen is worse for the PP, and he's certainly not more offensively gifted than a Meier. Heck, even among dmen Luke is more skilled.
Casey is an excellent prospect, I have been praising him since he got drafted.
But he has significant risks associated with him that mean you don't just throw every other option ahead of him away and think it's gonna work out 100%. He has no track record of NHL success so far, and he isn't the level or archetype of prospect that you can just lock in as a sure thing. Additionally, even in the best case scenario, his tools are again somewhat redundant on a team that has better options for those roles available.
Simply due to the PP aspect alone, Seamus Casey will hold more value to a different team with a space to use him there (and no, 2 dmen is not happening), and a significant portion of his skill and value will always be wasted in NJD. Even looking back at michigan behind Luke, the lack of opportunity is a limiter to his value and impact.
I hold this view consistently
-Hamilton is obsolete if Quinn is brought in, so I would ship him out (despite being known on here as THE biggest hamilton defender)
-I hold this view for every single potential top 6 PP1 on whatever team forward is discussed. Why pay the PP1 sticker price when it doesn't even go on your PP1.
Why pay the price (or miss out on the opportunity cost of selling in this case).
No matter how good Casey is or isn't, without a PP opening we will be getting 70% of his potential impact. So I would prefer to sell him to a team that needs and will pay for his full impact as they use him in a PPQB role.
PP QBs are incredibly valuable and important. So take advantage of said incredible value rather than wasting it away.
Nemec for example, is not a good PP QB. But it doesn't matter because we don't NEED one. What that will unfortunately do, is lower his value to a buying team.
Even if I thought Casey was significantly better than Nemec (which, considering PP value he may very well be better than Nemec), I'd still be saying trade him.
If you switched Nemec and Casey's PPQB abilities (which would make Nemec better and Casey worse) I would be saying trade Nemec, since again his PP value would be wasted by us, but HEAVILY desired by others.
