I am totally okay with Fitz waiting. It takes 2 GMs to make a trade and the targets might be on a bubble team now not ready ro make a move yet. More option open and more cap space is available as time goes by. No need for a panic trade as it is not a desperate situation

It is not like there will be a shortage of middle 6 forwards by March 7th. I'd love a playoff line up of:

Pslat,Hughes-Bratt
Meier-Hischier-Mercer
_______-______-Noesen
Cotter-Haula-Lazar (all 3 can play C)

(Noes and Merc can be swapped)

yeah no, I don't miss the rapist. Sorry.

Weird post.
I love the “no commenting back” addition because he doesn’t want anyone to be critical of him missing a rapist.

My turn: everyone name 2 celebrities who you feel like always got an undeserved bad rap. I’ll start: Bill Cosby and Diddy. Nobody is allowed to comment on my selections.

Nobody would have missed McLeod at all until Game 7 against the Rangers, dude had one playoff moment and half a season when he knew he was on the last supper - the rest of the time he was just meh at best.

Have we as a group had all that much to cheese about outside of that series for a number of years now? I ca understand why folks want to focus on that.

In that order:
- Fire Fitzgerald
- Trade Meier and Hamilton
- Plan the parade.

Fire tom fitzgerald
In the middle of the season? If we miss the playoffs - which we should still make but we ABSOLUTELY HAVE to gain points at a quicker pace the last 28 or however many games are left than we did these last 5 weeks if we wanna be safe.

If we miss the playoffs, I think he's gone and if he isn't gone then it's pretty clear that he's just a yes man/figurehead, whereas Ray Shero wasn't and wasn't willing to be that, and that's what really got him fired and not the team's performance or missing the playoffs too many times.

I think it's fair to blast him with one more playoff miss, but I've been fearing the replacement will only be Martin Brodeur for quite some time. I'm still fearing that, but that's not even knowing if Marty wants to take on that kind of a role. However, it appears he's around the team day to day, I'm just not sure if he's around the day to day operations all year long.

I don't think Chuck Fletcher would ever be named GM here, unless it was on an interim basis. And that's who would likely take over for the remainder of the year if you made a GM change today.

Meier has been their literal best forward for going on two weeks now

I sometimes fear that some of you guys watch different games than the rest of us
Timo Meier has 15 goals in 52 games played as our highest paid forward. I am super duper proud of him for coming close so many times.

I sometimes fear that some of you guys let charts and twitter-statistician playing cards dictate your opinion instead of using the two eyes in your skull god gave you.

Assuming Quinn wants out, what would it take to get him? I'd assume probably not a lot because they aren't even going to think about moving him unless he asks to be moved and if he asks to only be moved to NJ, their options are low.

Idk if he has a ntc or anything, but aside from that I don't really remember how teams deal with this kind of stuff. Hypothetically speaking ofc.

Timo has high advanced stats like xG because he does a lot of things right - shooting the puck a lot, being in good position in the offensive zone, things like that.

He doesn't have a lot of actual goal production because his shot sucks. It's not accurate, his shot selection often sucks (Twice during this game he would've scored if he got the puck off the ice), etc.

Which makes him a frustrating player to watch, probably the 2nd most frustrating guy on the team for me to watch (besides Luke, who at least has youth and experience to blame). The xGs will be good but the actual goals that count on the scoreboard in game will lag behind it. I feel like everyone in the argument is right and wrong. Schrodinger's Timo.

At least the dude shoots the puck and that in itself has value in creating rebounds.

Nobody wanted Timo on this team as much as me nor for as long, I can pretty confidently say that. But if you are gaslighting yourself into thinking he's the same player he was or at least playing to the same level, don't put the extra work into doing it to everyone else.

Yea a lot of those goals were gimmes and Macdemind would have put in, but so many on there from a single season we haven't seen him come close to his entire time here.

I don't want to trade him, I think with enough talent through out the team he will pop off randomly when we need it, but I'm not delusional and can see a difference.

“GOALS GUD”. yea, crazy thought.

Timo in his highest scoring season was at 1.83 points per 60 at even strength. This year he’s at 1.84/60. He shot 9.4% at 5 on 5 that year, he’s at 7.4% this year.

He’s not the same player in that he isn’t the number 1 option on the team and isn’t even on PP1. He needs to finish better, period. And I expect him to.

But he was never really a true star player to me, just a good power forward, which is why that contract was always going to be fat. But even that isn’t a huge concern with the rising cap. The production isn’t going to be sexy without PP1 time, which he shouldn’t be getting when we’re healthy.

Expect him to finish better? He has been mid AF at finishing for his entire tenure here which is now at what, around 130 games?

Twice in the game today he had a wide open top half of the net and instead shot it right into the goalies pads. Clear examples of poor shot selection and/or execution…but no according to database dorks that’s just “bad luck”. My eyes can’t roll back far enough.

You need to go recheck these numbers.

Team's barely better than last years team at the same game mark. That's shit and unacceptable.

Tom does need to be fired if this team falls out of third place and definitely misses the playoffs.

This team has just 5 wins in the past 16 games. That's horseshit.

Timo Meier’s highest scoring season, by goals, was 2022. 1.83 points per 60 that full season at even strength. He had other years with higher points per 60. He’s missing a couple goals at 5 on 5, but beyond that, it’s mainly the lack of PP production that makes him look different. The year we traded for him he had 13 PP goals vs 3 this year. 18 even strength vs 12 this year (57 games vs 52).
