Give Hischier Palats deal minus 25% on top of his existing deal. Give Luke bridge deals until Hamilton is gone and give him Hamiltons deal.Salary Cap will be +29% in 3 years. Jack, Bratt and Timo still locked up then, Nico would need a new deal, though Palat is off the books. If we can sign Luke to a reasonable deal, we are still going to have a ton of room to make moves.
Luke will need more than Hamilton’s deal if they bridge him. I think their chance to get anything sane done with him is this offseason.Give Hischier Palats deal minus 25% on top of his existing deal. Give Luke bridge deals until Hamilton is gone and give him Hamiltons deal.
Im no cap wizard but I dont think a bridge deal for Luke is very smart. He may try to force one but if we can get him under 10 million at 7-8 years I do it!Give Hischier Palats deal minus 25% on top of his existing deal. Give Luke bridge deals until Hamilton is gone and give him Hamiltons deal.
Even worse lmao. Metro 2/3 may end up being 2nd and 3rd in conference, then winner of that plays the most likely Presidents Trophy Winning Caps in round 2.This doesn’t seem right. Round 1 would be against each other, round 2 would be against Washington/Wild Card 2, round 3 against whoever comes out of the Atlantic (as always) and round 4 against the Western champ (as always).
The first round matchup is brutal, but that round 2 matchup against the winner of Washington and the last wild card is nothing to complain about. The rest of the matchups are standard for any playoff year.
Damn son. That’s a crazy increase
Maybe the incoming cap increase is why Fitzgerald is in on Miller? Again, I know the rumored issues but Quinn would know best. If its not entirely a Miller issue then 8m for a first line forward is seriously good!
As long as we have cap space to Quinn eventually!!

Luke has been good but I can't get behind him being over $10M, even with a rising cap. He has not quite proven to be on Dahlin's level (or even necessarily close).Yeah it's more space, but it means that contracts are going to get bigger and dumber. Better to think of cap hit as a percentage of team cap instead of a number value.
Rasmus Dahlin signed a 8 x 11 extension when the cap was 83.5 and that extension kicked in when the cap was 88. That's 13.1% of the cap at signing and 12.5% of the cap when it went online. Let's split the difference and call it 12.8%.
Which would mean that extending Luke to the equivalent cap deal this offseason to a 95.5 cap would be an AAV of 12.24M.
Just mentally prepare yourselves for the sticker shock when you see the number. He will be the first bluechip RFA defenseman to get a new deal with this exploding cap. He and his agent will to be setting the market. Something in the 11-13 range is what his agent will be pushing for and he's absolutely right to do so.
If we could get him at 10-11 that would probably be a bigger steal than Jack's current contract and only possible due to the Hughes brother discount. Fitz did magic with Jack, Nico, and Bratt but it's a different world now.
They are probably a top 3-4 team in the league. They aren't going to trade for a bad contract.
These guys and their agents are not dummies. They are risk averse sure, as any rational human is but they can do math like we are all doing.Should be trading for good expiring RFAs and locking them up long term.
My uninformed position remains Luke Hughes is gonna stay firm on a 3 year bridge and not sign away his prime on an 8 year deal this offseason.
If you think dougie at 7 mill is a "bad contract" you are going to hate every single RHD ufa contract signed from here until dougies contract endsThey are probably a top 3-4 team in the league. They aren't going to trade for a bad contract.
Dahlin was on his 2nd RFA deal, not coming straight from his ELC. Dahlin is who bouchard and dobson will be looking at.Yeah it's more space, but it means that contracts are going to get bigger and dumber. Better to think of cap hit as a percentage of team cap instead of a number value.
