I’m not particularly worried about the 3rd becoming a 2nd re: Allen.

If it does - bigger issues.
Riding Allen as the seasons spirals out of control and instead of a late 3rd rounder the pick becomes an early 2nd rounder sounds like an opportunity for some good discussion.

:sarcasm:

What a difference 4-6 weeks makes.

Markstrom went from a bad goalie involved in a horrible to trade to the season is over without him very quickly.

If the Devils start playing better, then I’m not super worried about who is in goal, the skaters should be able to carry play enough to make that mostly a moot point.

The way I see it is Cotter and Mercer have shown thet can chip in scoring. I think Haula and Lazar are due for some market correction.

That leaves Tatar, Bastian, and Mac as pretty much useless players where no offense is to be found. So we need one or two guys to push them out of the lineup that can score a bit and we are in business.

Our top guys will start potting them. That should be a given to everyone.

I thought the Allen condition included last season as well? Or was it confirmed only for 24-25?

Sorry folks, just lurking and looking for some Markstrom news, but figured i'd quickly chip into your discussion.

FWIW, Trade conditions per PuckPedia:

Becomes 2025 2nd after Allen plays 40 games with NJ in 2024-25 & Allen's team makes playoffs.

Definitely call up Poulter. Whoever the call up will be backing up Allen and I'd rather have Daws getting consistent starts in Utica. I still believe Daws can be an NHL goalie.
I'm exactly opposite of this. Feels like Poulter had a rough start to this season but had the better performance last season and is currently playing really well.

That said, their overall stats this year are pretty similar, so probably hard to fault either decision.

Bastian is probably due for some reversion as well.

Tatar not so much as his shooting % is OK, he just doesn't get shots off.

I'm not in a rush to replace either guy as their on ice numbers are pretty good.

Mac just stinks. Strictly here for one reason. And his playing time is allotted accordingly.

I believe both conditions - 40 games played and club qualifies for playoffs - need to be met in order to satisfy the condition(s) of the trade in order for the 3rd to become a 2nd.

Capwages also notes the same condition(s).
I was asking more for game count. Do playoff games count in the games played or does it stop in regular season.

I know he didn't leave on the best of terms but he was awesome for the 03 cup run 24 games played 11 goals 7 assists for 18 points. Led the team in goals for that run and tied for 1st in points with Nieds. No issue with him being on the 2nd team for me.

His resting bitch face was just never resting. It was ever vigilant. Always on patrol.

Regarding the quarter century team, while not a big deal in the slightest, yeah I laughed that Jack was named on the first team. Maybe I just put too much stock on longevity for this list. I get what he's compiled in a short time, but I thought they would've gone with another longer-tenured forward. I know he's not a sexy name in league circles, but a guy like Madden was a staple here for the first decade of the millennium.

All the other names I thought were spot on. Langs was here from 02-11, was a strong offensive player his entire time and was a captain for several years too. I fully expected to see him, Patty, Zach, Trav and Gomer.

Not sure if this is a hot take but I'd switch Gionta in for Zajac but I'm not up in arms over it.

I also think Jack makes the first team automatically for breaking the single season points record.

That's the other thing I really like about the ring of honor is that players like Madden and Gionta should be up there at some point.
