Except for this year, 22-23, or 20-21.

3/5 years hamilton has been better. And he's 3 years younger.

Both have a history of being elite dmen.

Hamilton is playing less than he has in years past

Josi is playing worse than he has in years past.

I'd be more concerned with the worse than the less.

Should Nashville give away 34 year old 9 mill josi for free then? Smart to get off his contract before he declines even further right?
Josi would never

Do I have to go through all 57 goals against with Josi on the ice this year?

Also looking back at that replay that's even LESS on Dougie than I initially thought.

-Luke fails to clear as neither Dillon or Noesen stay on that side to support luke's clearing attempt, with Dillon deciding to leave the ice and noesen running into his teammate. One of these guys needs to come over and support the puck, instead they both turn away from it.

Dougie comes to apply pressure. Communication between him and Haula should have been better, but someone has to pressure that guy and dougie had seen Haula and Noesen collide.

Dougie is closest to the man with the puck, but unfortunately they both go to him, (probably assuming noesen will stay in the middle to help), but he curls up ice too.

Tough to see the full angle in the corner, but puck gets to Luke's man and out for a pass in front.

Bad communication across the board there. It looks like Dougie has the man at the point and Haula the man coming in, but either haula thought someone else had him, or he just made a late/slow turn.

In conclusion, bad decisions, bad communication accross the board, dougie included

Justify it however you want but Hamilton is under no circumstances even close to doing the right thing. Hes like the last guy who should be up there.

We lost 6 in a row in December during the 2022-23 season....the record setting season. 1 win in 9 games.

That stretch was horrific and went into January....

Don't worry about it...we built a decent cushion. This skid was bound to happen.

Yea that was pretty awful. Stretching it out a bit it was a 3 in 13 skid and was soon to be 3 in 14 until we came back down 2 late in the 3rd and the Severson heroics in OT, against the Rangers.

And then we took off and never looked back. Thank god for Damon Severson as I always say.

The East is a lot worse this year too than 22-23. Getting home ice v Carolina is a must this year, it's gonna suck if we wind up having a 22-23 repeat though in the playoffs where we win a grueling 7 games series and then have to play Washington on the road a few nights later and Washington finished their series relatively quicker than what looks like to be NJ-CAR.

Extremely random thought here

But I'm gonna guess we're not doing a 30 year celebration for the 95 cup team? I guess we just left all 3 teams at a 20 year celebration?

I think if we were having one of those we would have heard about it by now?

I'm going to disagree, strictly on the basis that you say: someone has to pressure that guy at the blueline with the puck.

You should have written ANYONE EXCEPT DOUGIE should pressure that guy.

I was sitting on the glass, first row at the blue line, and when I saw Dougie come right into my living room I immediately thought 'this is bad'.. before the goal was scored.

He had no business being there. Dillon must go to the bench coming out of the box. Haula should go out and pressure or at worst pick up anyone going to the net and Dougie with Luke out of the picture must just fade back and take away the center of the ice.

There's no immediate danger on the play so what the hell is Dougie doing?

Yeah 10, 20, 25 and 50 (if enough people are still around for it) seem to be the most common reunion celebrations, 30 seems a bit overkill since they’ve had 20 and 25

We got a little help from other teams today. Win the next 2 games and the morale will turn around quick. Especially if we can beat the Rags in the Garden again. I'm not really concerned about catching Washington but finishing 2nd in the Metro is a realistic goal that the Devils can 100% do.

There has been plenty of ups and downs already and we are only half way through the season, still a ton of hockey to be played. The team is pretty healthy right now so there is no excuse to get things back on track before a significant injury or two is likely to kick in.

I think we’ve only had 20 for the three teams.

But in 2009-2010 we had a night for each cup winning team during that season. I should remember more about those nights. I really don’t.

"Dillon must go to the bench coming out of the box."

Why MUST he. It's a bad change to take yourself out of the play when the other team has the puck in the dzone. It effectively adds another 10 or so seconds to the PK, except you can't ice it.

"Haula should go out and pressure." Yes, he should. Unfortunately Noesen ran into him, delaying him from that, and so Dougie did instead. Should he have, no. You'd rather have dougie in front than a forward.

But it is a SERIES of errors by Dillon (not supporting and leaving his team out to dry by changing as well as taking the penalty in the first place), Noesen (running into teammate and then curling out) Dougie (bad decision to pressure), Haula (not recognizing dougie pressuring and adjusting), and Luke (not clearing the puck and then letting his man get the puck down low).

I am not saying dougie didn't f*** up. My issue is that if you it was dougie who made ANY of the mistakes on that play, and the people around here would have STILL blamed him for the goal against.

If he was the one who failed to clear like Luke, he would have gotten blamed.
If he left the ice after taking a penalty instead of supporting like Dillon, he would have gotten blamed.
If he failed to adjust after another player took his man like Haula, he would have gotten blamed
If he ran into his own teammate like Noesen, he DEFINITELY would have gotten blamed.
