As long as the boards are static during play then I think it will add to the presentation of the game.

I couldn’t access the article to see if that was mentioned.

From the article below but I would gladly sacrifice not seeing "Devils power play with some flames" because it means we are going to see a countless amount of moving ads during the stoppages so we have more shit shoved in our face as if it's not enough already.

It will also bring in more revenue but will us fans see any benefit in reduced ticket prices or concessions? Absolutely not.

"During a Comets game, for example, ads that are on the boards will be displayed in a static format without any movement, according to Esche.

Stoppages in play and intermissions during games are opportunities where creativity will be on display."

Other others have noted he’s unlikely to do anything dumb in a first game back. NJ has MacDemrid in a worst case. Given how this season has gone it is something less of a concern than last season.

I'll give you that Rempe is probably less likely to do something dumb his first game back, but unlikely is giving him too much credit.

I'd still send MacDermid over the boards everytime he's out there and have all the guys keep their heads on a swivel. Don't care if that alters our game the 5 minutes he sees the ice - no sense in risking injury against this dipshit in a January game.

Holtz's time on ice has hit under 10 minutes a game. He's a 4th liner.

Holtz' ATOI is up 30 seconds this season to 12:06 from his career average, though a lot of that seems to be from earlier in the season.

Past 5 games he's averaging 10:37 - with the 13:01 in the game versus Edmonton driving that number up. Good chance that was a lot of garbage time for Holtz as Vegas found themselves down 5-0 in that game.

Oh ffs what a nightmare. It's even worse that it's our AHL team. I know soccer has them but it's not even remotely the same thing, the field of play is bigger, they arent "in bounds" like hockey boards and the ball is way bigger and easier to see than the puck. This is a nightmare. It's bad enough we have the digital board ads on TV...

honest question, why does this bother you so much..................?

Probably because there's a good chance this makes the live viewing experience worse for fans. I know they're claiming (for now) that the ads on the boards will be static during play, but even then you can see from the image that there will be a reflection on the ice that could be distracting. Maybe the extra stuff these boards can provide during stoppages will be a net positive, but I'm doubtful.

The digital ads for live broadcasts were bad enough - I know some people weren't bothered by them, but it took me a while to be able to tune them out and not be distracted by either the animation themselves or more often players/sticks/pucks being blurred or disappearing due to glitches with the boards.

Generally speaking though, actions taken to increase revenue for a team tend to come at some expense to fans.

Will be interested to hear feedback from Utica fans once these are used during games.

I hate ads being shoved down our throats with 0 benefit to anyone but the owners/players.

I hate how all this added revenue has not benefited fans one bit. I'd have less problems if all this new revenue benefited the fans with lower costs to see games. Instead we now have ads on helmets, ads on jerseys, digital ads on TV, more ads on the ice. The nonstop betting shit all over and at the games.

Did ticket prices come down? Nope.
Did concession prices come down? Nope.
Did merchandise prices come down? Nope.

They all keep going up and up instead. It's even worse when these arenas were built with tax payer money.

Here's an honest question for you, why doesn't any of this bother you?

I guess I just dont see the big deal? but to each their own.

literally everything in sports is for the benefit of the owners. It sucks but it is what it is. It is never going to change.

Yeah, the betting crap is another great example of a revenue generator for the league that completely sucks for fans. Not only do you have to hear about the odds all game long, they not do intermission/pre-game segments on this crap which are nothing but glorified ads. Or how the ticker now shows odds instead of actual stats.

And that doesn't even cover how many lives are being destroyed by sports betting. Or that something like 3% of players actually come out ahead or break-even in the long run and players that do really well just get banned by the sites.

Its because we have no spines and I'm honest enough to throw myself into that category. We would need to organize a protest to change things and I know it's a pointless endeavor here so I don't have the energy to organize one myself. I would absolutely participate in one though if we had a legit chance at changing anything here.

European soccer fans would protest and riot against some of the stuff our owners do with ticket prices and other stuff. It's the only thing I'm really jealous about with how they do stuff besides how short of distances they have to go for road games.

I mean, they've also had sports betting and associated scandals with it for decades before it got the OK in North America. Hardly a year goes by with some sort of shady stuff happens in a top European soccer league.

You're not wrong here, by the way. Short of a revolution I don't see things changing, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

We are so dominant defensively. Love that we are playing a style that is transferable to the playoffs - all our additions have been impactful.

I want to see us make a big move at the playoffs. Whether its a Gourde or a Nelson type, we are one of the top teams with a terrific coach.
