And once it becomes second nature, they can focus more on the offense again! We’ve allowed 20 shots or less in 4 of the last 5 games, and under 25 in the last 5 games.
This team’s defensive game has developped so much. Really didn’t expect such a drastic change.

In a vacuum probably not.Markstrom's WTF moments are obvious, frustrating/annoying and easy to harp on, but overall he's been fine. I didn't expect him to be elite at his age, but he's been good enough to win games, which is a huge improvement on anything we've had since somehow getting a good year out of Vitek/Schmid two years ago. Has he been worth what we paid? I don't know. I guess that depends on how much you value late 1st round picks and Kevin Bahl (who I seem to recall this board not being particularly high on last year).
I know most will laugh this off, but I wonder if we could get Dostal from Anaheim? And what we could get him for?
Allen and Daws and a pick that isn't a first? Surely not a first like Askarov brought back? His value is probably at its highest right now with how he's played this year.
But ever since Gibson came back it's been like that time Randy Orton won the WHC and then Triple H immediately took the belt off him at the next pay per view.. The number of games he's played since Gibson has been back is a crime. He had Vezina-like numbers (in a still very small set of games played) and had to eat a pedigree on a steel chair. After Gibson and the Ducks staff dropped him on his head while they were carrying him around on their shoulders and then violently assaulting him.
But they'll probably keep him. They're close to being so late in Gibson's contract that someone might actually take or part of the last year of it.
They've gotten better and better. Last 15 games(23.5 sa's/60) better then the first 15(27.5 sa's/60). Last 6 games is top of the charts good at 21 shots against/60.I mean it has been. The defense has been incredible all year.
The Rags fall in the Athletic is less dramatic, but still funny.
Listing the top 8 teams of each conference until the Rags fall out in last one *whomp whomp*

I was actually shocked that we only had 2 fewer wins and 5 fewer points through 33 games last year. And our 33rd game I think was the first game back after Christmas, like 13 days after our 33rd game this year lol.Our record through 33 games: 20-10-3, 43 points
Our record through 33 games in 2022-2023: 22-9-2, 46 points
Pretty similar.
I don't entirely agree but you're not wrong. I think the point about rebuilding the system is valid though. We have VERY little and the picks could be used to address that unless there's a home run to be had.Yeah, I don't necessarily want to give up assets unless it's for an impactful player. We're seeing how putrid Utica is and how empty the cupboard is. At some point we've got to get some prospects in the pipeline or we'll be stuck with guys like Bowers, Dowling, etc.
Giroux would be a great pickup for us but the Sens are playing well and in playoff contention, but if they were to fade away I would definitely inquire about himWhat forwards are out there that we should be in on? Ive seen the name Trent Frederic from Boston a few times, but other than that nothing

We basically treaded water in the playoff race until the McLeod arrest and then fell apart after the Stadium Series game.I was actually shocked that we only had 2 fewer wins and 5 fewer points through 33 games last year. I guess we were still treading water at this point last year though. We were probably even in a wild card spot after 33 games last year?
Stay far away from Taylor Hall, my little birdie told me how much a prima donna he was here, I can share one example, during the Tampa Bay playoff series in 2018 he told the coaches he would not go out if Mirco Muller was out there, Muller was a scratch in games 3 & 4.Different people have different feelings and a lot will depend on what kind of money the Devils have to spend.
I've mentioned Michael McCarrone as a guy that they should throw like a 4th at to acquire to play on the 4th line the next couple of years. I'm not sure he'd cost much more than that. The devils only paid a 5th for Lazar I think and this is kind of the same thinking for me.
I know that there are some people are pretty big fans of Jake Evans as a good pickup in the bottom six as well. I could definitely get behind that.
Puckpedia has us projected for 3.5M in space at the deadline, so we could definitely pick up a middle six wing, at that point if we wanted and those guys don't usually cost a ton. The devils only got a current 3rd + future second for Toffoli last year. I know people have mentioned Taylor Hall and I think he could be had for something less than a second. Brock Nelson will probably be on the table. Granlund has center versatility. Frank Vatrano.
