The Devils only have two right-handed shots. Were regularly running two LWs on RWI like Palms but we have enough RWs. That cash has to be spent on a 3C anyway.
My immediate thought was Toronto. Team that can't get over the hump brings in a guy who was captain for multiple Cups.At worst, Toews could probably be a reliable 4th line C. It could be a low risk, high reward move depending on the price. I’d imagine someone overpays him though.
New 3C come on down.... kidding
And any gm worth his fee would say we intent to offer Quinn a contract in two years when he becomes a FA which would be two years earlier than the end of ur bridge deal.
Negotiating on speculation is just not a good tactic for either party
This debate is dumb when it comes from this website
Vancouver Canucks Officially Blocked by NHL from Submitting Offer Sheet to Luke Hughes
He gives me Aaron Rodgers vibes too, at least from a new age spiritual BS level. Probably not from a "whiny dickhead" level but that was the next step for Rodgers.Toews is 37 and hasn't played a game in over 2 years. I'm not sure what he has left in the tank. I sure as hell wouldn't be counting on him to be our #3 center.
If Fitz were to get fired, it’d happen in the next two weeks. My gut feeling says he doesn’t get fired.
Fitz has no excuse to “come in second place” on any players this summer. Allocating $4M on a #5-6 defensemen (Kovacevic) that will be coming back from injury in 2026 is your typical galaxy brain move by Fitz. It was always a bad deal and the injury solidified that.
He HAS to yet again win the summer.
My immediate thought was Toronto. Team that can't get over the hump brings in a guy who was captain for multiple Cups.
Fitzgerald is safe for the foreseeable future. What fans dont want to admit is he has left open the future cap, which means he can always pivot if neededThere’s zero chance they will fire him in the next two weeks.
The draft is June 27-28. They would have to rush the search for a replacement and then throw the new guy in there days before the draft and free agency.
Even someone who wants Fitz gone would have to admit that’s a terrible idea.
I’m convinced Fitzgerald is going to target a 6’2+ center
I know people really love to lean into the bit of Fitz being in love with size at the moment given the turnover he's done for the team in the past two years. But it's clear he understands the team's need right now is more scoring help.
I don't know who he'll target and I don't know who fills the positions of need, but I don't expect him to pigeonhole those spots on one particular trait. If anything, he usually leans too far into what the team is missing. So let's see how many one dimensional scorers he acquires.![]()
Some Rangers fan on the main board was bemoaning letting Mikkola go to the Panthers where he's doing a good job now. At least they just got the one. I'll chalk that up to the Panthers knowing more than other teams, especially since Greer and Boqvist were also let go by the Bruins, but it's still annoying to see what could have been bottom six contributors do that somewhere else when they could have done it here (but, let's be real, probably wouldn't have).
I didn’t click on the article because I’ve mostly learned how these sites work. That “even if they want to they couldn’t” non-story is absolutely my instinct and the “NHL forbids them” is more of a passive interpretation of the rules rather than a league statement on decision on the matter. If it's the article above which is the source of this discussion, this is what it says:
"But, many fans have wondered why the Canucks don't just offer sheet Luke Hughes as he is a pending restricted free agent (RFA).
That fact of the matter is that the Canucks, along with every other NHL team are blocked from offer sheeting him, among other RFA's under section NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)."
The article is merely shooting down fan speculation. It does not say Van is putting out sneaky feely's.
