Chisholm seems like nothing but in reality he is a needed 3LD but we have it wrong. Not cause Dillon is traded, but because Siegs is in the package to DAL who can desperately use a good cheap defensemen

At this point no. Im sure Sunny would be open and honest to Nico about it but if he can get Jason Robertson it has be understood

We haven’t heard any smoke on the Devils and Robertson and I’m not sure Sunny would see it as smart to spend so much in a trade just to give him such a big contract. I’d temper my expectations or hopes of the devils getting him, feels unlikely.

Today’s trades remind of an article I randomly read on NFL.com about the Philadelphia Eagles Howie Roseman and how he approaches off-season roster building. He tries to sign UFAs and trade for players before the draft so he doesn’t try to draft for need, covers his bases first sort of speak.

Now, with the NHL draft of course you don’t draft players to play right away, but what if Sunny is approaching things in a similar way. In that social video he said he expected to be going into this weekend with less picks but they have more. So there were looking to make moves but haven’t squeezed any more out yet.

My point is, what if he’s trying strengthen the roster with minor moves of players he’s identified fit his criteria so that when he goes for bigger trades, he doesn’t need to be desperate. And also, doesn’t have to wait until free agency to fill out the roster with dreck like his predecessor.

Seems simple and obvious but not many do that.

I don’t think I’m articulating myself well enough.

I’m also really high.

It's probably not it but it would be cool if he's forcing his way to NJ. People always force their way to the Rangers, it would be cool for it to be us for once.

What doesn't make sense to me is if it really was him forcing his way to NJ, why are we getting news of him rejecting other teams? Surely, he would've told the Stars he's only interested in NJ? At the same time, the holdup does seem to be more of a location issue.

As much as I'd like this to be case (forcing his way here), it doesn't add up.

Yes, that is what it is. Sunny didn't get these players now to be an extra or in the ahl. It will also help with working around the cap as he already has cheaper players and can move the more expensive ones without panicking.

Agree but I also think both moves today mean 1 forward and 1 D are gone. He replaced both with cheap guys.

Seems like nothing in theory but if you can replace DIllon / Noesen with Amadeus and Chisholm, that is about 5 million saved in 2 players

agreed, feels like he found some under utilized assets to gamble on… taking care of this business first, should give him added flexibility to move out more cap, and save us money for something good, without having to pick over the scrap pile later.

So far all three trades feel very precursory to something bigger. Whether it’s imminent or just sunny improving his position for whatever becomes available remains to be seen.
