So if they win this and then the next two games they don't deserve it?

BS man
Uh yeah teams can win when they don’t deserve it. If the devils win playing like this, it’s likely it would be because andersen shit the bed or something along those lines.

They would need to do a complete 180 to be the better team in the next 7 periods. The problem is, we are in the third period of an elimination game 5. If they haven’t figured out how to be better than this already, what would make anyone thing the light bulb is suddenly gonna go off now? We have guys trying to pirouette their way out of a heavy forecheck, coughing up the puck under the slightest pressure, turning away from hits, not being physical, refusing to put even a mediocre amount of effort in winning puck battles or blocking weak wristlets from the point…believe me I’d like to see them completely turn these things around but those are not the kind of things a team suddenly starts doing after an intermission.

I’ve played hockey.

I’m not saying Bratt made a good play. I’m pointing out the Devils system prevents the wingers from being in good positions to make plays.

We’ve watched the team allow point shots just like that all season because the wingers are asked to stay soft on the point meant.
Jack has been doing stuff (like hitting) outside of what he normally does cause AT LEAST HE KNOWS THE PLAYOFFS ARE A BIG F'ING DEAL. And he's not even the one looking FOR his next deal!

They were the better team for the majority of the 2nd. Hopefully they can do the same here.

Watched the replay and I agree, he basically put his stick and angled his body out of the shooting lane. Maybe a reflex, but I don't understand why he did that.
Classic too scared to block the shot but want to make it seem like I’m trying move

If the Devils win the series playing like they have most of this series it means Carolina didn't capitalize when they had the chance.

Exactly !!!

No that was not anything to do w system. Any system that says doesn’t block shits isn’t in the NHL. He didn’t want to block it.
Devils system doesn’t really ask you to block shots. It asks you to get a few feet from the defenseman and try to get them to pass.

At this point I think he is making business decisions. His contract is up and he probably feels he’s got to finsih thr season healthy first and foremost.

He definitely seems to 'get it'. Can we extend him again yet?

You’re right in theory. However he glided into Burns where if he took two hard steps, it’s stick on puck. Inexcusable. Know the situation. Under a minute in the period. Block the shot.

On Lindy too for putting his soft ass out there the last minute. Tired of hearing matchup game doesn’t matter all regular season.

Bratt looked like me in beer league being like “this isn’t worth it, I have to go to work tomorrow.” But… this… is… his…. Job
Don't kid yourself, Brattwurst is thinking the same way. He's a beer league HOFer.

No they weren’t. They controlled the play for a large stretch of that period. That doesn’t automatically mean they were the “better” team. There are other aspects of the game, especially in the playoffs, and they’ve been horrendous at those things.
