should definitely fold the franchise for losing a road game to an average team

its hockey. Sometimes you lose to bad teams and sometimes you beat great teams. Getting hung up on "WE CANT LOSE TO BOTTOM FEEDERS!" is prisoner of the moment nonsense.
Do you actually read anything or just the parts you like to comment on the loss is secondary to the way they are playing the game I can't remember a game since January where they played a cohesive 60 minute game. The offense is good most nights which is why we've been squeaking them out. Oh wait are you just funding like Snipe it's hard to tell🤣

Borders on ridiculous.

Veteran team with several holdover from a team that won a Stanley Cup; playing for its playoff lives.

Devils are still growing.
This is my whole thing. We're a very young team, and we'r getting younger with a few guys coming soon. We still have LOADS to grow. The fact we're 3RD (!!!!) in the league in points is a MAJOR, MAJOR achievement.

Get into the playoffs, do your best, gain experience and keep on growing. Young teams take time to grow and mature. We're on the right path and more reinforcements are coming.

Miles Wood won't be in the league by 25-26 and that's a very liberal guess. That's almost a gimme at this point and a guarantee. That was pretty much what I figured a few months ago, but I think we could speed that up to sometime in the 24-25 season and if he plays like this with his new team to start next year? He'll be waived by December of 2023.

Don't @ me in 25-26 if he's some rando call up from the AHL for some team.

He doesn't have many more years left in the league. 27 is a bit older for him than your normal 27 year old.

There's not many 30-something year old career 4th liners that are still full time 4th liners in the NHL, that have stayed in the league for years and years as a 4th liner. You more often see former 25-30 goal scorers that aren't good anymore (like Wayne Simmonds in Toronto the last two years before this one) if there's an older 30-something year old vet on the 4th line.

I want them to make the playoffs, that's it, the rest is gravy to me.

Of course I want them to go further, but I'm trying to be realistic. We have a very talented core, but we're VERY young and inexperienced. The team is gonna learn and simply getting in the playoffs and getting in a series is going to be EXTREMELY valuable for this group.

Normal step to greatness.
They will make the playoffs.

But I’m greedy. I don’t want them to get wiped once they get there. It’s not so much about whether they win a round. I just want to see them playing well enough to be competitive in the series. Playing like they are now is a recipe for suffering the first sweep in franchise history.

Lindy’s most idiotic move was benching Zetterlund for that stretch.

Keeping Wood in the lineup takes the cake though. He doesn’t make those momentum shifting plays that he used to be able to. That used to coverup for his otherwise middling play. Now it’s just shit 100% of the time.
Only way that dumb crypto freak that ruff loves is coming out of the lineup is an injury or a suspension. Personally I don’t give a shit which at this point I just want him gone. Tom is a family friend so his nepotistic ass ain’t shoving this dimwit out the door fast enough

Yeah. While I am annoyed at some things, I try to imagine talking about nothing but lottery balls like we have become accustomed to. Makes me feel better.

For the "we need Jack" crowd, apparently they've forgotten the losses to teams like the Blues and Predators when Hughes was in the lineup.

And for all the Timo talk, if he's so good how come he's -16 and the Sharks haven't been close to the playoffs the past three seasons?

It'd be nice if the team's fans appreciated what the team's been doing.

I don't know if you guys are just emotionally hedging or whatever, but the prevailing "ohhhh it's okayyyy they'll just make the playoffs and lose in the first round but it's progresssss and I'll be prouddddd" thing gives me actual, physical, get-me-a-bottle-of-tums heartburn.

This team is on pace to break the franchise record for wins in a season. They're doing so on the back of one of the greatest offensive seasons in team history. They're getting timely goaltending. They're even getting the bounces and breaks they seemingly haven't gotten in a decade.

This was a game against a deadline-seller. This is a game they have to win if they're going to catch Carolina or stave off New York. This is a disappointing loss, capping off an inordinately lucky stretch of 10 games where the Devils truly have played some hideous hockey.

If your expectations for this team haven't changed since the season started, I feel bad for you. I don't want to emotional hedge. I want to win the Stanley f***ing Cup, because I think this team is good enough to do that. So I'm going to get emotionally invested in weekday losses to mediocre opponents.

I'm pretty convinced they'll figure it out before then. Fitz will step in at some point.

I just feel the fanbase is starting to push it a little. We've had success this year, it's fun. But we're building something. Losing in round 1 would be sad, but it'd be a normal step for a young team just starting to blossom.

The future is bright folks.

Timo has literally stolen the Sharks points this year. I saw one game in Tampa a little over a week ago with my own eyes.

The Sharks are one of the worst teams in the league and it's nothing to do with Timo. Him and the renaissance season from Karlsson have accounted for a decent amount of points for them.

GOOD players play on BAD teams. It happens.

The Sharks are filled with a bunch of not great players or aging players on BAD contracts, like Vlasic, who is really just f***in horrific at this point and is 36 years old and hasn't been NHL caliber since before he turned 30 and was given that contract.

He made the save chief, they scored on the rebound. You cannot control a rebound on a shot for feet out of it his you in the pads.

Get a grip. The ignorance about the goaltending position is on full display tonight on this board.
Appreciate the effort - but it's like fighting windmills.

Bottom line was Devils didn't finish enough chances - nor get in the hard areas as often as the Blues did.

Blackwood made the saves he could be expected to make (and a few that were better than expected).

Palat-Jack-Mercer
Rango-Haula-Holtz
Thompson-Boqvist-Zetterlund

Or something. I don't f***ing know.
My preference:

Tatar-Hischier-Zetterlund
Bratt-Hughes-Holtz (Can sub in Haula for things like d-zone draws)
Palat-Boqvist-Mercer
Sharangovich-Haula-Mcleod/Bastian

If the Devils get Meier (if Holtz is in the trade then just move Zetterlund to that line):
Meier-Hischier-Tatar
Bratt-Hughes-Holtz (Haula sub in for Holtz when needed)
Palat-Boqvist-Mercer
Sharangovich-Haula-Zetterlund

Has nothing to do with emotionally hedging. Some people just have different expectations than you do, and that's ok.
