This impending shutout doesn't really bother me which is kind of sad. They've been hot, they're playing an "inferior" opponent. This team has shown for quite a while to not have that killer instinct. You could've circled this game and put an L on it at the beginning of the month.

Yup. Not sure how the cap space will look at the deadline, but the winger depth needs to be seriously upgraded. Especially when you take into account that you'll have injuries in the playoffs.

They ideally would get an experienced 7th defenseman too. I don't know that I trust Nemec or Casey stepping into a big playoff series coming out of the AHL. I guess Hatakka could be the 7th?

They need a depth left shot defenseman for the playoffs.

Nemec could stop in on the right side, but if they one of the LD go down, it's unrealistic to have anyone from Utica come up.

Leafs game pissed me off more than this one. We dominated the hell out of them. Mercer gets slew footed , Leafs score on a weak shot , we lose in OT even thought they out played the Leafs in every aspect of the game yet lose in OT

I’m not saying I think they should do that though. Let him rest for the night.

Yeah, but the Jackets have scored all their goals with traffic in front. Rebounds, tips, screens.

While Merzlikins has been very good, he's able to see all the pucks.

Devils need to stop trying for the pretty play. Deflections and rebounds. It's good practice for the playoffs.

It's really not.

I don't think they lack "killer instinct". If anything, I think they try to hard in these games. All they needed to do was keep it simple and play their game, but they kinda look like they have been pressing from the start, and they are falling out of their structure for it. It seems less about not being up for the game and more maybe being too up for the game. They are clearly the better team. They just need to stick to their game.

They flung poo from the point that barely got tipped and found its way in off the post. Sometimes you get those, sometime you don’t. We’ve had a bunch of chances from in tight, they just wouldn’t go.

A lot of people have talked getting rid of Palat and Dougie. I say they may settle for freeing up a little bit by getting rid of Haula instead; who makes roughly half of what Palat makes and only has a year left to Palat’s 2 and Dougie’s 3?

But I’m not sure how much that will free up. It’s hardly anything.

I’d agree with you early on in the game when they were sloppy at times. They’ve been straight up dominant since about 5 minutes or so left in the 1st. It’s just one of those games. I hate using officiating as an excuse but my god have they influenced this one. It’s 1-0 and Timo is driving to the net. Bogus call gives the Jackets a PP and completely changes the game.
