Yeah, I can honestly say I was impressed with every one of the forwards tonight.

I thought Janssen had a hell of a game. He actually looked like a capable NHLer (it's kind of sad that looking like a capable NHLer is a good game for Janssen). As long as he doesn't look like a liability defensively or offensively and doesn't take any stupid penalties, I can't complain with him in the lineup.

Would've liked to see Matteau get more ice time, but it's understandable when protecting a one goal lead his ice time was diminished. He made a couple of errant passes here or there, but otherwise, he was a solid third liner both offensively and defensively, while throwing his weight around.

I think we all need to hope that Tedenby, Josefson, or Matteau get a goal within the next couple of games while they're playing well to get their confidence up. Once they get that first one, they will probably break out offensively.

We have our new whipping boy! Be +2, play the most minutes shorthanded. Tie for lead of shots by defensemen.

Weakest link.

Was it Tedenby or Josefson who lost coverage of Ullstrom? Tedenby took over the centre role and was aiding the dmen in corners then josefson came down and tedenby took the pt man. Then all of a sudden the puck squeaks into the slot where an unmarked man was just sat in front...

I don't remember but I think it was a combination of both. Wasn't a smart play by JJ but Tedenby probably should've been more aware that Ullstrom was right there.

Our offense looked "ok", Tedenby was really solid, Matteau had a solid game, Josefson will be a stud IMO, Volchenkov is our weakest link and we'd be a way better team with Larsson in the lineup.

Bingo. I really liked Josefson too he's so calm with the puck and great without it too. I honestly wish he'd jump on the juice and add a good 10 or 15 lbs of muscle to his frame. He'd be really good if he bulked up.

I think we're in for a rude awakening. Devs didn't play great hockey. Were some good moments but the forwards were a mess on d-zone coverage and giveaways were in the crazy high amount

Think the isles lost that one.

That said, Tedenby Josefson Matteau Gionta Carter Salvador all looked good

Who do we play next? Flyers? Yeah, we`ll get smacked if those mistakes happen again.

Fortunately, nobody looks particularly sharp (which is understandable), except for the Blues, my pre-season Cup prediction. Then again, it`s only one game.

I thought they were fine for the most part team-wise. A lot of teams looked like garbage yesterday on day 1, well day 108 or whatever it actually is

But the forwards worry me for sure. Time to find a better Matteau avy

Devils lucked out starting against the Islanders, it was good for them too. They get the season started with a win, hopefully upping their confidence, and I don't think we should expect a perfect game, especially after a week training camp and when very few players played the last several months.

when Henrique gets back the team lines will look better, at least that I'm hoping Janssen won't be in the lineup once he's back.

also as bad as the PP looked bad last night, as long as we don't have that awful PP we had last year where the opposite team had a shorthanded goal. NEVER AGAIN! I'll be ok.

The Carter-Gio-Bernier line got too much ice time.

In order for it to be successful, their minutes need to decrease.

Aside from getting coned by Boyes, Volchenkov wasn't bad last night but he probably is the weak link on the defense.

I liked the Teddy Elias Clarkson line, teddy looks great playing with a playmaker like Elias

Last night I felt like Tedenby was the one creating chances for the other two as opposed to Elias. Tedenby and Clarkson have always had good chemistry.
