Fitz has to have a pretty damn good feeling Timo would re-sign. At the worst, you get that first in a trade flip at the draft and you can pick his destination so he doesn't wind up signing in the East.

The pressure is on to sign him now. Hope that doesn't lead to him giving him more than he should. Also even if you do then you better be f***ing prepared to give up the same exact deal to Bratt or you gave up all this shit to end up back in square one

Basically what it boils down to is this gives up a lot of our surplus assets, so Meier needs to be the piece that sets us over the edge. We shall see soon enough, but it should be an interesting next year to see how this shakes out.

Fitz wouldn't have done this move if he wasn't 99% sure he'd re-sign Timo. His whole MO is getting players who fit the timeline for the long-term and don't destroy the future.

I’m not worried in the slightest about Meier flaking on an extension here. I think he will be more than happy to do it.

It’s Bratt that worries me down the road lol
I mean that would have worried me without the trade lol, but now at least they have a pretty good chance of having ONE of these guys here past next year

I think they'll get the same deal, I'm not worried tbh lol. Sad about Zetterlund + Muk but it is what it is

And not for nothing but at least one of these additional pieces had to be in the deal because we were also getting Meier at basically no salary this year between 50% retained and Jonsson going back.

The 2024 first is a really big problem because it wont be around for a deadline deal next year.
We should be in a position where we're really not adding a lot next year, or if we do maybe then Holtz or Casey goes.

If you're that worried about a 2024 first just wait till Bratt gets flipped (unfortunately only half being facetious) :sarcasm:

Unless Fitz really lowballs Meier I can't see him not resigning. An already good & young team with a bunch of his pals on it sounds like a great time. Obviously more goes into it but at the surface level it's reasonable to assume it'll get done.
