Here is what he should bring to the Devils, a good organization.

Good 13th forward and has specific skill sets that help the bottom six and situationally.

He had been better in Boston than what he showed this year in Van. I’m not convinced he’s absolutely horrible in a 4C role.

Hard to be mad about this. It’s a fine depth move, cheap, cost controlled.

Lazar is very solid and I liked him before he was drafted and Is a very solid teammate as well.

Much better than wood out there when we need to protect the lead in the playoffs

For all the Conte wrongs that SheroFitz righted like acquiring every good player picked right after Josefson in 2009, a better defenseman picked after Urbom and Geli from that same draft and getting Dougie who should have been picked over Larss to begin with, this is one of Conte’s blunders that didn’t quite come to fruition. And it’s very puzzling that Fitz would acquire such a player.

What a busted pick he wound up being for the Senzzzz. He was picked three spots ahead of Anthony Mantha and Burakovsky and Shea Theodore went not too many picks later.

Lazar is also a repugnant, disgusting person for eating off a fan’s hamburger that was tossed onto the ice back when he was with the Senzzzz.

I’m meh on him. I kind of agree with @devilsdominion on this one.

He’s turned into a career 4th liner after being a busted first round pick. And he’s had significantly less NHL success than Michael McLeod. It’s not like he’s carved out a career being a great 4th liner.

I can’t think of anybody in the lineup currently that I’d rather play him over.

And he’s not even a left winger, so no chance he’s a Wood replacement.

Just interviewed him on Sportsnet. Sounded thrilled. Can tell he has a good personality.
It would be hard to not be thrilled with leaving that dump of a organization, where Jim Rutherford is the guy calling the shots and they think it’s a good idea to hire Tocchet as a head coach after his many failed years and two different failure stints.

As I understand it, you must be on the AHL teams roster by 3:00 today to qualify for the playoffs so this may be a move just to replace Graeme Clarke so they can send him down. Just me spit balling here.

I don't think he's the Haula replacement.

More like a cost controlled Wood.
Wood has produced far more than Lazar ever has. Bastian is closer to Lazar.

Real boring pickup - personally not a fan. Would have liked to get a guy to play in these playoffs, not use this deadline to stash a 4th liner for next year

But it was a 4th rounder so whatever. Doesnt hurt us in any way. Adds injury depth.

Flexibility, flexibility, flexibility. Key to success in the POs. He can adequately fill a roster spot when the need is dire, a good catch.
