How realistic is getting Hamilton?

I wouldn't bank on it. I think we will be active in that market for him, but I think it's unlikely he ultimately would sign here.

We are good to push his market up though, in theory

I would trade out Lars for Butcher but we couldn’t have both on the same roster. Imagine injury times and both end up in the same top 6 lineup. I know Larsson gets burned wide by speedy players but we could make use of him in a bottom 4 PK role.

I just don't think Larsson fits this system...you have to be able to skate and he really cannot

Its part of the reason why Butcher was scratched basically all year IMO

While I agree Larsson may not fit here, I don't agree why that's why Butcher was scratched. He was scratched because he sucks. He's fringe level on on the offense and garbage defensively. That combined with him not being able to skate = a large pile of poop.

Not sure how Larsson is these days as far as defense goes but I remember him being ok but not amazing when he was here.

Larsson would be a great fit as a 3RD playing top PK minutes behind Subban and Severson.

Only real issue is the Devils have the defense set up at the moment where Siegenthaler is the 3LD playing the same exact role Larsson would be cut out for. We would need to either move Siegenthaler up with Severson/Subban or play Smith/Butcher with Larsson for the defense to compliment each other best.

or, if you wanna get more ballsy and get a younger dman that can be here in their prime longer, offer sheet the hell out of Makar and go with 11 million.

giving up 4 first rounds is nothing given the our core group we have, and if we can’t win with Hughes, Hischier, smith, Bratt, Makar and who ever we pick this draft, there are serious issues.

Oh I don’t doubt that Sakic will, but as soon as we can offer sheet him we should be doing so and making sure that the Avs can not afford it.

this reason butcher was scratched doesn’t really hold up when Tennyson was getting regular minutes and played more than him.

It should not. Miro will be 30 when his contract ends - it should all be prime years. Hamilton will be in his mid 30's at the end. Two very different situations IMO.

The Pens ask will be what McCann plus the guy the Pens will lose in the expansion draft with McCann gone.

If a receiving team already has good forwards then McCann’s value is McCann minus whomever they will now lose in the expansion draft plus the person they now did not lose.

So trading with the expansion draft as the catalyst has a lot more moving parts than a regular trade and could make it hard to find common value.

I don't think that we are a good trade partner for them. They aren't entering a rebuild or anything, so they would need exempt contributors... Otherwise it just turns into them losing multiple immediate pieces

Bring back Larsson as your 3RHD and if/when you move Subban Larsson easily slots up to 2RHD.

Sign a Larsson, resign a Carrick or Tennyson to stash in the AHL.
