The so called anti Zacha people I could actually name but I won't because they aren't lol. There are like 5 posters who aren't entirely sold on him and see a flawed player having a breakout year. They also wouldn't have a problem trading him IF it improved our roster. But people seem to think wanting to improve the roster means shitting on him.
I’ve always tried even handed with Zacha, I’ve just discussed him more a lot because I thought he was very problematic at center. I’m always slightly annoyed that people ignore defensive play with forwards. (Which was and is my main issue with Zacha, though that is tied to possession.)
I will say that I also find it annoying when posters give one-sided bad faith arguments in order to support particular forwards.
One, shall we say contrarian poster, loooved Zacha’s 24 assists last season and was quick to point out that he had the same amount of points as Bratt. Bratt scoring 16 goals, w/ 14 5v5 goals , but didn’t mean anything more than Zacha’s 8 goals, w/ 3 5v5 goals. Points are points.
Then cut to this season and that same poster now found goal scoring a whole lot sexier and no longer cared about assists. Suddenly they lost interest in points, and focused on who was scoring goals.
That’s what you do if see this as Internet Debate Club and you only mention information that you narrowly cast as part of strictly pro- or anti - player arguments. That weird approach to me because it’s pretty easy to see through. Why not be honest about players. Right or wrong, I do try address a player’s strengths even when I’m criticizing them.
And main issue with trading away Zacha or Wood is that I would like to increase scoring and not have to replace their’s. I’m over Palmieri too I’m am not sure that the mythical improvement trades involving these players are out there but who knows.
