Wonder if he’ll actually hang them up after this season. He might want to play, but physically he’s not there, and idk if he’ll want to either have the surgery he needs (and hope for the best) or risk long term health to play another year as a third liner.

He’s going to need the surgery to lead a reasonably normal life. If he has the surgery in June, he probably won’t be able to sign until Christmas. After his birthday in November, he can sign a bonus laden contract.

I dislike modern hockey. Yeah, Hughes is a generational talent... In 2023... In 1992 he gets flattened and spends the rest of his career at 60 points because the refs and modern rules aren't protecting him from getting steam rolled.

Don't get me wrong... I'm okay with no physicality. That's why I watch baseball and football.
