I'm sorry but Gallant is part of the root problem. Him shitting on the players is not a good look. This dude is getting outcoached on the regular, his setup and basic approach is deeply flawed and his adjustments are lacking. This was the game to do so from the start. The previous game was an even bigger opportunity that he failed to take.
He is, but it's still about execution on the ice. NJ played a lot harder the last two games. That can't be downplayed. Panarin is a joke. Igor, that's his first terrible goal of the series really. Panarin missing wide those 2 times in Game 3. We gotta play harder now. Panarin looking like he can't do it anymore when the going gets even a little rough.

His coaching basically won us the first two games of the series to be fair. They still limited the Devils at home. To me these games are on the players.

Their execution was terrible, passes were sloppy and in skates all night. Nobody was getting to the net. Too much coasting. At a certain point the group is too talented that their execution on offense is on them, not the coach. He can’t go out there and make Kreider move his feet or make Lafreniere not bobble a puck or make Panarin hit the net.

One moment that stands out is after Trocheck scored, his next shift he has a prime chance in the slot and he shoots and misses high by 6 feet. You have to hit the goddamn net. That could’ve led to another goal or at least more pressure and offensive zone Faceoff and more zone time. But he misses the net and it’s out of the zone. Stuff like that happening all night.

Dumping the puck all night and NEVER getting in and winning it back. This stuff is on the players, it’s poor execution.

For real

Dude had the 4th line out there with like 30 seconds to play

Spare me your bullshit Gerard lol

These teams don’t have shit on the old team, don’t care what you say. Those teams played hard and with heart. They made you proud to be a ranger fan despite not having the talent. This team is a laughable attempt at making a competitive team.

It starts with the McMuffin twins in team cancer panarin and mika with their powderpuff play style.

I don’t think I’ve seen those two get to the blue paint in their entire career with the rangers.

f***ing disgraceful, and you’re an enabler if you think they’re not the problem.
Funny that you bring up how this team used to make you be proud to be a fan. Right now I’m embarrassed to be a Rangers fan and I’ve never really felt that way before.

Drury should focus on keeping his own job if this team exits in the first round.
If there's someone I don't put this on it's Drury. He inherited the body of Jeff Gorton and John Davidson's vision of the team. He didn't sign Panarin, Trouba, and Kreider to those contracts. Zibanejad and Fox deals are still most likely going to be worth their while.

He made the moves to go all in and give his team the best shot to win it all this year. I can argue that this was the worst year to do it with Boston and NJ playing the way they have and getting the latter in the first round, and that next year was the correct year to push all the chips in, but I digress.

He's not dumb. There's a changing of the guard happening right before our eyes. The Devils, Sabres, and Sens if they get a goalie are going to be the teams at the top of the summit in a year or two. The Rangers are going to settle back into the dreaded middle after this year.

He deserves his chance to put his stamp on the team.

Lots of guys better figure out what they want their legacy in New York to be. Mica, Panarian both consistently no showing this series. No where near good enough. Not sure how everything looked so difficult tonight but as good as game one and two were was as bad as this one was.

You call a timeout and rip into them.

You can sit players for a few shifts. Make the 2nd PP unit start the PP. There are things that can be done in game to get the players to wake up.

Absolutely. But this team can barely get the puck up the ice because of how things are set up and what they've practiced all season. Thankfully the next game is away and I expect them to win that one. At least we get a 3rd shot to win at home.

Seriously.

Go watch highlights from the 2013-2014 run folks. That team was fast. In your face. Devasting on the forecheck. They rolled four lines and just never stopped coming at you. That team would have won the Cup if they had today's Patrick Kane even.

Berard is a nice start to start getting back in that direction. If you're trading Panarin, pro scouting needs to do it right and acquire the right types of players. Hell, give me a mulligan of the Marian Gaborik trade to Columbus. A middle six center that steps up his game in tight situations, a buzzsaw bottom six player that PK's really well, and a bottom pairing defenseman that can move the puck and transition competently.

Team speed needs to really be addressed this summer. It's the new way of the game. If you're not going to adjust and get pucks deep and not even fight for it and look like a bunch of p***yes in the process, just abandon the idea.
I really do think there's enough compete on this team if they have the horses.

Back in the day, when most defensemen were 6'4" cement trucks and the game was much slower, maybe getting to the dirty areas was about wanting it. In 2023, it's all about getting to the dirty areas before the puck is gone.

The Devils have an underrated defense corps that are all good at moving the puck. They had the jitters in game 1 and Lindy had a horrible gameplan in game 2 (including scratching an excellent defenseman for no reason and going totally out of the way to hit a much bigger team because that's playoff stuff). Now that they're playing Devils hockey again, the puck is gone before we even think about forechecking. And our defense is way too poor at moving the puck to be a skill/rush team.

So we can't check and we can't do finesse, and we sit here and wonder why we have one goal. Really bad combination. Like you said, we need to either get fast enough to check, get better at transition so we can use our skill, or better yet, both.

I do think Panarin could be more effective on a team that had any semblance of a rush, but then again, he needs to find a way at some point like Kreider and Kane have found a way.

Playoff series are about momentum. The Rangers were up 2-0 going home with a strong chance to be up 3-1 going back to Jersey. The devils found their footing and now control the series. I would say, objectively, the series currently tilts in their favor, but that obviously can change. The Rangers didn’t play with enough desire. Devils wanted it more. They outmanned us on every loose puck, and committed to team D. They were opportunistic and that’s how they need to play to beat us. They have a confident young goalie. They have the edge
Momentum is overrated. I have seen teams this playoffs lose 7-2 and then win the next game 7-3. The Rangers had as much momentum as you can have with two 5-1 games and then proceeded to score 2 goals in 2 games.

I've come to accept the Rangers can never finish a series off before 6 games. Seriously, WHEN was the last time they won a series in less than 6 games?

Because of this, I know the Rangers can very much still win this series.

The series isn't over, and the PP slide surely ends at some point, but every reason we lost the last two games has been going on for YEARS unnoticed and unattended and I'm mad about that.

Gallant is giving pp1 55 seconds and yanking them. He had adam Fox on the bench with the goalie pulled after a 40 sec shift. Goodrow on the ice.

The 2nd pp unit sucks. He’s giving them equal time. It’s crazy honestly.
