Won a tightly called game which greatly favored the Devils. Special teams will be in NJ's head now.

Great job shutting down Bratt, Hisher and Timo. Hughes got a few chances but also got hit and pushed around all game and he was a turnover machine.

A split is good, another win on the road will be HUGE!

A lot looked like I expected. Devils generated a lot more at even strength and capitalized on NYR breakout issues. NYR have clear edge on special teams and in goal.

What I didn’t expect was the NYR commitment to patient hockey, blocking shots, winning puck battles, and backchecking. Swarming Hughes. Aggressive PK. Gotta give hats off to the team for the effort and Gallant & Co for the way he got the team to play. That really swing the game favorably.

Best case scenario Game 1.

Took away the Devils' speed through the neutral zone. Sticks were in passing lanes. Rebounds were cleaned up quickly. Devils got hit hard all over the ice. Rangers scored early and put their stamp on the game.

Thursday is a brand new day though. Be ready to do the same.

Shocking that things didn’t go more wrong. The Devils really skated around us for too many minutes.

Need a better effort next game cause Devils will score more than 1 in Game 2.
Odds are they will, but I didn't see the Devils defensively do much of anything great. Forecheck sure, but I was impressed with our finish and opportunistic play. Keep that going and maybe stop 1 above expected and this can be a good gameplan.
