That was a fake goal. We won 5-0.
No sir, thst goal was very real and a sick goal/shot. Give credit where credit is due. I am guessing you haven't wished we had him? As much as I love KK, I wish we had him. Yeah, I said it.

I don't think the concern with Lindgren is that he's going to "break down" like Girardi. Girardi was never good.

The concern is 1) what he's going to seek in his next contract and 2) if a shot hits him in just the right spot, he misses 50 games.

Needs to increase his Toradol consumption.

We're supposed to have our eyes on the prize. We'll celebrate when the job is done.
If all you are getting out of this is total focus on the "prize", then imo you are not enjoying this upcoming ride as much as I know I will.
The prize will be celebrated only AFTER 16 well deserved victories along the way. But, what do I know.

If that gamne was difficult for your heart......well then maybe you shouldn't watch any more. maybe it's just me, but I felt very confident throughout and the game never seemed in jeopardy. The refs tried, but even they couldn't make the outcome different from the obvious.

That game last night was nothing like the series vs PIT last year or the 2015 ECF vs TB or 2012 ECF vs NJD. Now those surely did a number on my vital organs.

Tarasenko with as many career playoff goals as Ovechkin

no he doesnt.

People will finally get it in July when they see what Kane has to get done. You'd have to be blind to think he's mailing in shifts. He's in pain. It'll have to be managed. However, just his presence is massive for a team looking to get over the hump. He will be fine on the PP. He will have his moments. He looks very stiff, however, but that goes back to my original point.
I agree with this.

He was a liability. Not expecting him to play defense but the lazy dump ins need to stop. Still a weapon on the PP though
Yeah it was a lazy dump in "attempt". I hate those weak missed backhands and last night KANE didn't have anyone anywhere NEAR him when he did that. Handed them puck possession so very easily. WHY oh WHY didn't he just collect it, go his forehand and look around for a teammate? I expect MORE, much more from him than that. Injury or not.

I don't care for Kane but you just know he's going to have a monster game at some point. We didn't need him to do shit last night. We are a damn good & young playoff tested team - we all saw it last year. As long as we get the Shesty and Foxy we saw last night and the progression of the kids continues - we are better than last year.

Can game 2 start please

The PS call was BS.

I for one do not have a problem with that PS call... and it's not just because I want more penalty shots. I thought it was the right call. Yes, I feel bad for Shesterkin not being able to get the shutout because he has a teammate who is an idiot, but it was a also a comparatively painless way for the team to see what happens when you don't impose on Hughes. He is a huge difference maker and must be neutralized by any means necessary.

I agree it was a bad idea to attempt a hook, but to me it looked like Hughes just lost the puck - the hook had no affect at all.

If you're going to take a penalty to disrupt a breakaway, might as well hook the sh*t out of him next time.

I thought he lost control after the hook.

I agree it was after the hook and that's why it was called. But if you watch the replay, the hook was on the hip (not his hands) and was so weak it did not seem to affect Hughes at all. The puck just slides under his blade as he tries to stickhandle.

I don't necessarily disagree with the call as once you reach out to hook and make any type of contact, you're putting yourself in position to get called.

Just looking at this after all this talk about the Devils youth, core, etc...

Devils 25 and under:

Bahl (22)
Bastian (25)
Boqvist (24)
Bratt (24)
Hischier (24)
J. Hughes (21)
L. Hughes (19)
Marino (25)
Mcleod (24)
Mercer (21)
Sharangovich (24)
Siegenthaler (24)

Rangers 25 and under:

Chytil (23)
Fox (24)
Hajek (24)
Kakko (21)
Lafreniere (21)
Leshitshow (23)
Lindgren (24)
Miller (23)
Schneider (21)

You're starting a team - which group do you choose? One clearly has a future star and center depth and the other has 4 starters on D including a Norris winner. Tough call.

I thought he lost control after the hook.
The hook was in his hands, just as he goes to play with the puck. That likely caused him to fumble with the puck. It was slight and in a regular season game it might not be called. But in a 4-0 game?

Someone on the Devils board said early in their GDT 'everytime we (the Devils) go to the net one of our guys ends up on the ground, can we start doing the same to them please'. That's playoff hockey baby, which we cut our teeth doing last year for 3 grueling rounds.

I don't think it was that bad of a take. I was watching the Ranger game. I liked the way the team opened the game, first 15, and I liked the last 15 minutes of the 3rd. However, they were sluggish, sloppy and couldn't get the puck deep in the entire 2nd. The defense played great and Igor made a few good saves when he had too, but I don't think he actually had to be that good cause the D didn't give up too much.

I just think getting literally zero zone time from the end of the first to the beginning of the third is not great. It is still a team that turned the puck over in the neutral zone way too many times.

Also, did you not read the parts where I said they remind me of the Stanley Cup Champion Ducks team from 2007? I'd say that is a pretty positive take. We have a great PP, a good PK and we are efficient with our chances. Meaning if a team makes a mistake against us, we are probably going to score, and that is a good way to be. It makes your opponents grip their sticks too tight cause every little thing they do wrong will likely be a goal against. It is mentally taxing.
In your previous post you said the Rangers were low energy and something something arrogant which couldn't be farther from the truth. They played with good energy, forechecked well, blocked a ton of shots, and didn't allow a SOG in 4 devil PP's. It's not going to be perfect against other good teams in the playoffs. They played well.

That is playoff hockey. Devils have to show that they have the ability to do that. But I know for sure that no one on their blue line is moving Kreider anywhere.

Sounds like a fan base that's not used to watching playoff games IMHO.
