Post-Game Talk: Detroit wins Game 3 3-1

anyone blaming crawford for the team's current predicament hasn't been watching the games.

crawford has been fine...not perfect, but he's not holding us back either.

The effort by Dave Bolland on 3rd Wing goal was embarrassment

Ignored his D responsiblity then went for hit and decided not to throw it (Had Wing lined up for one) allowing Franzen to throw puck to wide open Wing for goal

I am a-OK with putting in Brookbank for Rozisval next game...that guy has looked absolutely awful these past few games.

He could have done more on Datsyuks goal, and gave it right to the Wings for their 2nd goal.

My rage hasn't really subsided from that disallowed goal. Instead of the Hawks having all of the momentum, the Wings come down and score and the game is essentially over.

Not jumping off the band wagon yet. They were down 2-1 against Nashville and Vancouver but Thursday is pretty close to a must win.

Basically comes down to one game for the season. Yeah, we are capable of coming back from 3-1 but it's a very tall order. Let's see who shows up.

Yeah Crawford fine and holding his own vs Howard (better) is a big reason we are down in this series. Not the only one, mind you, but all the finer points that Wings have been better at, are the cumulative difference. (face-offs, intensity, bottom 6 play, discipline, goaltending, coaching, a bit of luck... to name a few).

And btw, Wings 4th line scored the key 3rd goal last night.

I think you mean 2nd goal by Miller, because the first line scored the 3rd goal.

I will be the first one to say that Toews needs to start producing, but I really have to wonder how people can say he has been "MIA" this series. He has been, by far, the hardest worker on the team. He has been constantly around the net and in the tough areas, all while being virtually shadowed by two of the best defensive forwards in the league. I can understand being frustrated by his lack of production, but he should be the last of our worries right now.

Toews has not been MIA. He's being eliniminated in the dirty areas, and we need more aggressiveness and production from our top-six forwards. If other guys step up, Detroit's defense can't handle anything near potent.

I want Ben Smith and Jeremy Morin in there for the next game in place of two of Handzus, Kruger and Frolik. We need some help on offense, particularly in front on the PP, which both guys can help us with, and we need to get more physical, which again, both guys can help us with. The guys they'd be going in for don't do any of those things, just PK, which as great as it has been, isn't helping us right now. Being down in a series, it's time to worry about scoring.

Bolland seemingly saw a lot less ice time after that horrendous play.

Will you quit harping about the 4th line? They have as many goals as the first line in the playoffs to date.

We don't need them for that, we have a 6'4" 230 lbs power forward who plays with an edge and has good hands already, why he sees almost no PP time is beyond me.

Plus losing Kruger and Frolik might ruin our PK which we need to be at it's best in order to succeed.

No...it's really not. Our horrible PP, bad faceoffs, absent 1st line, crappy play by Keith and Seabrook, and lack of compete are why we're down. Crawford is not "a big reason we are down" at all. :shakehead

...he is one of a number of reasons...and he's down the list.

Toews has not been MIA. He's being eliniminated in the dirty areas, and we need more aggressiveness and production from our top-six forwards. If other guys step up, Detroit's defense can't handle anything near potent.

He was a non-factor in the Minnesota series, too. It's not just now. ...and sorry, but every team has top pairings that go out against the other team's top forwards...being a skilled player means you battle through it. Toews has been completely neutralized. That's not just on the Red Wings...that's also on him.

...and it's not as though he's been fantastic in the playoffs either. Except for the Cup year (where he was pretty unimpressive in the final round)...he has 11 points (3 of which are goals) in his last 21 playoff games (and in the Flyers series - which was 6 games - he had 0 goals)

For those keeping track at home, that's 3 goals in 27 playoff games...from the team's 1c. But yes, please tell me about his "intangibles" again :shakehead

A few crossbars and Toews has been shutdown. 2-1 down seems about right. Many things are still going well for the Hawks. I didn't think the pp was too bad, I think it looked good enough to score. I don't like the 2-1 deficit but I'm not alarmed yet, I thought the Hawks had the overall edge in play.

I don't know about that. We have 2 goals in the last two and I think that is a very serious problem, moreso than putting other guys on the PK. Speaking of which, in a big game like next game, may as well put top 9 guys out there anyway.

This isn't a shot at you, but the fact that this is where we are at with the PP is disturbing. That we are happy when it doesn't suck, it's like being a parent and being happy when your kid grounds out instead of striking out. Yeah your still out but at least you made contact.

Sure the Hawks didn't score on the PP, but we didn't give up a shorty and even hit the net a couple of times. YES!

Same old story as last year and below are my top ten reasons:

PP what PP?
Can't win faceoffs.
No net presences.
No physical presences.
They are not driving the net but looking for pass instead (see Kane or Frolik)
No sniping the corners(instead we are shooting 5hole for what rebounds?).
Shaw can't control his emotions.
Stars are MIA.
Q getting out coached.
Can't win the close ones!

Other than the PK, Frolik and Kruger are MIA.
Leave Saad with Bolland and Sharp.
Work on the PP these next two days.
Work on breaking down Detroits D in front of the net.

Mine either. That call is still just mind boggling.

There is little doubt in my mind that they were going to win that game if the goal stood.

Like someone already mentioned; I had great respect for Shaw, but now he is just acting like a punk, I mean, yap and cross check Zetterberg after the whistle is blown? Just unnesscesary.
