Asp will be better than him roughly 5 years after the trade. I don't doubt Asp will be a very good nhler but he's at least two more years away from being a Hronek replacement. When Hronek was traded he was a .5ppg NHL dman playing well over 20 a night. Asp has yet to play in NHL. Trade was in March of 2023.
He didn't replace him in 2023/24
He didn't replace him 2024/25
He won't be better than him in 2025/26 as a rookie
Maybe, in a best case scenario, he will be better than him in 2026/27
Since the trade..

TOI is over 23!
Asp has yet to play a NHL game. And I don't thin he is over .58 ppg next season playing over 23 a night as a rookie.
I do think he has the potential to be better. 100% But he won't be a Hronek replacement for at least 2 more years. Really makes me question the word 'replacement'. Trading a guy and waiting 4 to 5 year for hm to replace a player is a funny concept to me. I do think Asp is going to be amazing though.
