Man, the temptation to quote like 50 different posts in this thread is strong. Multiple posters crapped all over Detroit's ability to draft outside the 1st round regardless of euro/NA.

Given Detroit's strong focus on drafting out of europe in the first few drafts under Yzerman we're still waiting to see the NA draft picks really materialize. But I think Mazur, Lombardi, Finnie, Augustine and Buium are among guys that might change the tune a bit. Give it a year or two.
Augustine isn’t a skater and that list is incredibly sad

Reminiscent of discussions earlier in the thread where Johansson and Söderblom were written off.

Imo, if you're calling the development of Lombardi, Plante, Mazur and Finnie "sad" you simply don't know what you're talking about. Still need to see some guys panning out at the NHL level but as I said, give it a year or two.

Eggs on your face, always been a fan of AlJo and Elmer. AlJo should’ve been up last year.

Obviously we need to see any of those four doing anything at the next level to not consider them done as prospects.

Red Wings/Yzerman fans in here right now:

I popped into the DRW board to check in on Söderblom since I remember he was getting a lot of hype on the “redwood line” a few years ago when he debuted. Everyone that responded said they figured he’d be back in Sweden soon enough and wasn’t likely to be a full time NHL’er.

Not sure you can really blame non-Wings fans for agreeing with the assessments from your own fanbase?

I think the difference is whether someone is having doubts about individual prospects (fair) or writing off the entirety of Detroit's drafting (unfair).
