Let’s be honest, I know it’s pretty obvious, but not drafting Quinn Hughes when he was in your backyard was franchise altering.

Also, the lack of quality defencemen, seider is getting overworked and overplayed

Hey Zadina will be filling nets with pucks any day now!!

Unfortunately it will be in Europe.

Necas or Suzuki over Rasmussen the year before would've been nice too.

He was suspended for 2 games recently and, yes, he is filling the Swiss nets with pucks. So disapointing for me.. I was positive about him.

I looked it up. Suspended for elbowing? That seems out of character for him.

Any idea what exactly happened?

And yeah, disappointing for Wings fans as well to say the least.

I didn't see it.. a Swiss poster wrote about it. He said he thought it wasn't that bad and shouldn't have been 2 games. I guess the guy he elbowed once crushed him in the Q.

Too slow. Not enough talent in the top 9. Way too loose with the puck from blue-line to blue-line. No one wants to go to the net. Almost zero puck support. Everyone looks like they're pulling a rope in different directions. Primarily, though, they play with zero pace unless Larkin or Seider has the puck.

Andrew Copp, Ben Chiarot, Jeff Petry, Tyler Motte, JT Compher... shall I keep going? Borderline elite talents.
Berggren is a turnover machine and has yet to figure out how to move without the puck. Rasmussen and Veleno look mediocre even in a 4th line role.

The draft picks need to start hitting for Detroit for them to get past being a .500 team.

Can Yzerman get a bit of criticism yet or is he still infallible?
What's the criticism exactly? That he drafted poorly for never having higher than 4OA in any draft? That there wasn't a "plethora" of high end defensive talent available in Free Agency to choose from in the years they needed it?

It's just bad luck (Draft and Free Agency) and having a VERY young team. Young in terms of their future stars.

Excuses. Go out and tank properly. Take on assets for bad contracts. Instead, he builds a middling team filled with overpaid vets and mediocre young talent.

To be fair, they tanked twice and got 4OA and 6OA in those years. So it wasn't for a lack of "trying". I think people just have an unfair expectation when the top 6 dmen have 3 players who should never be in the NHL at this stage of their careers (Gustavsson, Petry, Holl).

Not sure there is an easy solution to Detroit's issues, other than to hope players like Danielson, Mazur, Lombardi, Buchelnikov, and Pellikka can all produce in the NHL.

Lets all his picks get of age/development first before speaking of whether its working or not. No point of a new thread every time they lose against a upper level team.

Their fans and teams constantly argued on here that they were not tanking those years. They absolutely were trying to make improvements the year they drafted 6th and after.

We shouldn't believe this after the fact claim they tried.
