I don't know if anyone watched the Ducks game last night but the Wings controlled the whole game until a giant meltdown starting about 5 minutes into the third. They were lucky to salvage a point after that. I'm sure Babcock laid into them after the game.

You can sure count on that. I've always been a fan of Babcock and the Wings as 2nd fav. team. When they lost Holmstrom to retirement, they lost a huge part of that team.

The Wings will play better without Zetterberg. That's the type of team they are. When someone goes down everyone works twice as hard. Gonna be a battle no matter what.

Pretty soon Staples is going to be hard to get into because you'll have to navigate a sea of statues to get into the place. I think they've gone a bit overboard with the statues. Maybe they ought to put them around the whole building instead of just the main entrance? When is Mikko Makela getting his statue?[/QUOTE]

Don't remind me of that trade

Looks like they'll be wearing the gold again tonight. Did he ever wear the purple and gold uniform?
Gee, I can't remember if he did or not.
I do remember the real, real, raw deal Tony got from the Kings org. though. He played his heart out for the team. He got a real serious head injury, requiring a steel plate being installed in his scull. While he was out, he was traded away. I've never gotten over them doing that to him. Geez, can't even remember now who they traded him to. Sharks?Yotes? having a bad case of CRS (can't remember s**t)

Datsyuk has 10 pts in his last 5 games. As much as I like watching him play, he's going to be dangerous.

He didn't. He was traded here after Gretzky arrived.

I could be wrong but I think Granato and Sandstrom were acquired together for Bernie Nicholls.

IIRC Granato was signed by the Sharks as a free agent. Sam McMaster said Granato was washed up and not Kings material.

McMaster also brought up the infamous stick swinging injury Granato caused to a Blackhawks player Neil Wilkinson, as proof that Granato was not a player the Kings wanted to associate with. The stick swinging incident happened a couple seasons before the kings parted ways with Granato.

You CRS :)

Tony signed with the Sharks as an UFA. The Kings weren't going to tender him a contract as his health was obviously concerned and they were trying to recover from the Gretzky trade.

Personally, I lost a lot of respect for Granato after the Wilkinson incident, which was one of the most chicken-**** things I've ever seen done on the ice. Even though Wilkinson wasn't injured, I thought it was more vicious than the McSorely hit. Luckily he got mostly helmet.

If anything, the Kings stood behind him. I would have traded his ass after that.

You are correct. I believe it happened during all-star weekend back in 1990.

I think Gustavsson is between the pipes for the Wings tonight.
