I like nothing about games against the Wings. Especially in Detroit, but they'll always come up with a shorthanded goal, or a late 3rd period PP goal to win the game when playing in LA. I'm prepared for a frustrating loss, but hope for the best.

At least when teams do the Anaheim/LA back-to-back trip, it's not ALWAYS the Kings first, Ducks second -- remember a few years ago the Ducks ALWAYS got the 2nd half of the back-to-back, where the Kings always got the fresh team?

Nice to see that at least this time.

I have NO clue what it means for a result. I don't know the game of hockey, is what I've learned from watching this season's team.

Apparently, Red Wings fan doesn't like to be reminded of this. I can only post this safely here. LOL

when I think 'redwings vs kings' this is the one thing that comes to mind. somehow, someway, they find ways to win. hopefully that is not the case tonight. keep it rolling boys! #GKG

Well if any team is gonna break the streak it's the Red Wings. Puck off the jumbotron, bounce on Sutter's head, off the skate of a linesman past Quick and into the goal with 2 seconds left of regulation, making it a 1-0 game in which the Kings had 50 shots.

Sounds about right :shakehead

Pretty soon Staples is going to be hard to get into because you'll have to navigate a sea of statues to get into the place. I think they've gone a bit overboard with the statues. Maybe they ought to put them around the whole building instead of just the main entrance? When is Mikko Makela getting his statue?

who all do they have now? I know Wayne and Luc. Wayne is a no brainer, and Luc deserves it IMO as he still holds the NHL record for goals by a LW does he not?
eventually Ovie will get that record

Congrats to Luc on the statue. Well deserved for what he accomplished as a player for the Los Angeles Kings.

Maybe as an Edmonton Oiler. Giving him a statue in front of Staples Center was a bit of a head scratcher for a lot of fans.

there are some who credit Wayne for the popularity of hockey in California. As I do not live there i cannot comment to this

I think of 2001

He made A LOT of people on the west coast Kings fans and fans of the game. I feel like people nowadays try to downplay what he did for some reason.

There are a bunch of non-Kings there as well.

Come on man... you can disagree with the Gretzky trade from a hockey perspective but marginalizing what he did for the game in non-traditional hockey markets makes you look silly. Wayne played for the Kings for 8 seasons. He had got them closer to a Cup than anyone before him. The Kings become the hot ticket overnight. My dad, a big hockey fan, didn't take me to a game until Gretzky arrived because he had no interest in driving us all the way to nasty Inglewood before that. Roller hockey didn't exist in LA prior to Gretzky's arrival and was flourishing by the time he was moved out. Gretzky is directly responsible for the number of CA born players now being drafted by NHL teams. He absolutely deserves to be recognized from the franchise for those accomplishments.

A huge congrats to Luc for finally getting that statue. He certainly deserves it. Gretz never did play at Staples and Luc did.
Another thing about Luc; being French, he spoke very little English when he came to the Kings. He lived with Marcell and was schooled by him until he mastered the English language. A guy who always succeeded in whatever goal he set for himself. Can't give Luc enough praise, imo.

I didn't know Marcel tutored him.
Dionne doesn't get the recognition as a king he probably deserves.

Back up goalie and star player likely out, on a back to back no less.........yeah, not feeling good about this one.

Alas, Go Kings Go! Keep on streaking.

I always half joke that Luc's statue should be inside since he actually played in that building

Put up a statue for Wayne in front of the Shark Tank and Ponda Center then.

I don't think he was the Kings' "savior".

Agree with the bolded 100%.

Good then you agree with the statue. AEG owns the Staples center, not the Los Angeles Kings.

Gretzky played for the Kings for 8 season. He didn't play for the Ducks or the Sharks or any other non-traditional hockey market. Why is it a head scratcher that AEG would recognize a former player for his impact on the game?
