You can’t say you only want a teams core players while simultaneously saying your own core isn’t available in a trade. Getting any of those players you want will likely cost at least 1 of the players you won’t trade.
I never said I want the Sabres to trade for those players.
First of all I prefaced it with "the two teams are not a good fit" which is polite for "I don't want to trade with you".
Secondly, even if there were desire on Buffalo's side to make a trade with Detroit, which I thoroughly hope is not, the Sabres would have enough quality assets outside of their core to go after those players listed. We're talking Power, Tuch, Peterka, Cozens, Byram, Quinn, etc.
Now would that make sense for Detroit? Maybe, maybe not I don't know and, frankly, I don't care, since, for the repeated time, in my opinion those teams should not make a trade with each other at this point in time.

tl, dr
I don't want the Sabres to make a trade with the Red Wings.

Would something around Cossa+ for Byram make sense for Buffalo?

Love how Cossa has turned his development around but at the moment, Buffalo has their current tender in Luukkonen and a future tender the current front office is actively catering to in Levi. With them being smitten with Levi, that pushes the need in net off far enough that it's not as enticing. They need development at center and deefnsemen who are positive play stoppers.

Considering it seems the Wings are waiting on their prospect centers to become the depth behind Larkin that would make the Wings dangerous and for their collection of prospect defensemen to step up to support Seider, it seems like the two teams need similar things and don't make great trade partners. That's why the ribbing about it being something like Aube-Kubel for Holl earlier. And it's possible Buffalo wants Rasmussen to continue reshaping their bottom six since Greenway is out long-term and his presence is missed. But I don't see what the Sabres can put on the table that makes that workable without them taking an L on moving someone like Byram for Rasmussen - I don't trust Adams but even that stretches my ability to see him making that level of move given how productive Byram has been at 5-on-5 for a team that doesn't score much at 5-on-5.

Hey Sabres fans are you guys gonna retain Jokiharju and if not what do you think he returns

asking for a friend that has a really bad defense and lost it's 2 best that are actually pretty damn good for at least another couple weeks

not desperate at all:help:

compher + veleno + mazur + 3rd for cozens

For wings fans who Like mazur ... i like mazur but theres alot of kids coming and not enough room for everyone

For sabres fans I highly doubt ull deal cozens and if a trade occurs between us itll be another perlini 2.0 reject trade like Krebs for scrubs

I could see Jokiharju as a poor-man's Hronek. With him being UFA this summer and not playing, probably a 2nd-ish from a good team (pick in the 50-or-later range). We could take that to a separate thread, since this seems to be about Adams and Yzerman making all of us DRW and Sabres fans mildly nervous.

He's as good as gone. We're playing four LHDs in our top 4 with Clifton as the lone RHD.

Given what (somewhat) playable RHDs fetch -- a 3rd should do it and he's yours for the rest of the year.

He’s not really good at anything, so idk, a 3rd?

I think in general the thing that would make sense for both teams is to not move any big pieces at this time.

Buffalo's whole team is very young, if anything some vets might be good. Zucker was a good addition, maybe need another Zucker type player to take some pressure off Peterka, Quinn, Benson and Kulich.

Moving Cozens or Byram just seems like history repeating, like moving Reinhart etc.

Some smaller change of scenery would make sense though, Berggren for Joki for example.

Cossa isn’t going anywhere. I certainly wouldn’t trade him even up for Levi. I’m biased and Sabre fans have the right to be also. The goalies stay put period

Seems reasonable.

We're completely screwed right now and are playing guys who would be middling AHLers if they went down .
Its sounding like Hughes is out for a couple weeks at minimum as of news today and Hronek just started skating but with a shoulder injury he's likely out till after the 4 nations.

Pretty much anything that gets Juulsen out of our lineup would help and that goes for Desharnais too but he's been bad but not actively setting up the opposition for a goal against every game bad.

In a Dahlin for Seider trade proposal, I'm not sure the Sabres are the only ones to say no.

There, I said it.

I do have a nagging suspicion that Seider might be a tad overrated at times by some in the Red Wings fanbase, myself included.

But I do know beyond the shadow of a doubt that Seider is woefully underrated outside of Detroit.

I can say the same about Dahlin. He is our best player, leader, captain. The team looks different with him and without him. Well, he is not available.

many dont realize what an absolute force seider is on the d side of puck . let alone how smart he is handling the puck all 200' including making great passes in the o zone . not to mention what a hustling , rugged , athletic player he is . hes top 15 dman level but because hes not amongst the highest scoring dmen many fans dont realize that yet . throw in his smarts and leadership , hes become a star . though i dont watch anybody but detroit so no opinion on dahlin all around game

Dahlins better, no knocks on Seider...

It's like saying a Corvette sucks because you have a Ferrari... The Corvette doesn't suck and is very nice... but no ones trading a Ferrari here for a Corvette...

No one's gonna say Seider sucks. Dahlin's just better.
