Except we've seen brialliance with Laffy and people have been wanting him on PP1 since last season.

Outside of being a poor man's Callahan/Dubinsky, you think Kakko's trajectory has been better than Laf's?
what are you talking about? you're the one comparing kakko to laf. I'm talking about how Lafreniere is playing, which is terrible, and all you have to say is "b-b-b-but Kakko stinks!!!"

i'm not saying Laf isn't brilliant - i'm saying he's playing chickenshit hockey, the type of heartless dreck that's endemic of the team

The thing is, I think a decent contingent of our hardcore fans (the types who visit HF, not the average NYer) have felt that this team has genuinely been not good enough, very flawed, possibly even “bad” for a long time IN SPITE of the results they’ve gotten. It’s hard to really aggressively take that stance and die on that hill when the team is making the ECF or winning the President’s Trophy, but I feel that it has been a sentiment that’s been in the back of our minds for a long while, even when the team was getting good results on paper.

One of the best ways I can think of to describe it is kind of like the Giants’ Super Bowl wins… everyone was ecstatic but we also all kind of knew we had absolutely NO business actually being champions. This Rangers team is the same; it’s impossible not to enjoy the ride and the hype when your team is actually on that deep playoff run, but deep down, you sort of know we’re not supposed to be there.

In essence, what I’m saying is that this isn’t entirely a “sudden development”. The team has been flawed and lacking for a long time but has always managed to mask that with elite goaltending, elite power play, etc. Now some key pieces have lost a step or become resigned and frustrated, and the results have finally begun to match the actual quality of play we’ve been seeing (not always, but enough to be alarmed and know the team had big time flaws) for a while.

I know we weren’t good enough to win a cup…. But this is embarrassing. We don’t even look like a NHL team

As a Kings fan, I thought the Rangers troubles were overblown and just early season ups and downs. That might have been the worst coverage I’ve seen all season on a few of those goals. Does really seem to be a lack of effort or focus.

It's both. Team players might want drury and Laviolette gone.

I'm the one who said get rid of Kakko, give Laffy more responsibility, and if he still plays like shit, boot him to Montreal.

You're the one who zeroed in on Laffy as if Kakko has been exceptional so far.

Yay! He's projected not to finish this season with 19 points. Small victories.

matt hunwick rocked

reminds me of how ridiculously the ice tilted in our favor when adam clendening was on the ice that one year and AV just refused to dress him

the old trope of blaming the undersized puck moving d-man for all the teams problems

Kakko leads the team in plus/minus and is 8th in points with little PP time.

Oh and he's only costing us 2.1 mill. KK is not the problem here.

i don't think you realize you're doing it.

i'm not talking about Kakko. At all.

moving on: You're saying you want Laf to get more opportunity. He has not earned more opportunity. He's playing stinky hockey.

At this point Drury really needs to ask the room who wants out and accommodate anyone who does not matter who they are.

Lindgren doesn’t get a say. See what you can do with the NMC crew.

I don't think that's the right question. The players have good jobs, why would they want to leave? If you ask them they'll say they want to win. What is lacking is a comprehensive organizational vision beyond "make the playoffs to make some waves". That vision is not the job of the players, that is Drury's job. The players job is to win games. Drury's job is to create an environment that helps the players win games. Drury has to put some laser focus on himself first and foremost. His passive kick the can down the road approach has blown up in his face. His lack of imagination has blown up in his face. His poor choice of multiple HC's has blown up in his face. Drury cannot point the finger at the players when he himself has f***ed things up in the first place. Why would the players help him do his job?

A lot of players need to go to balance this squad and have them play a team game that suits the players at hand. Not this godawful mess where players are not on the same page or barely in the same universe, overseen by a coach that hasn't had a fresh idea in 20 years.

Drury needs to go too. No confidence in this fool.
